Wednesday Hodgepodge

Now that my morning “gig” is over, I have no excuse for not participating in the Hodgepodge.  I’d like to invite you non-Hodgepodgers to join us … it’s such a fun way to get to know other bloggers.

1. Since these questions are posting on the first day of April it seems only right to ask-when was the last time you did something foolish? If you can't answer that one, try this one-when was the last time someone fooled you?

Alas, I’m sure that many would consider myself fairly foolish all too often.

2. What's the last biography or non-fiction book you've read? Was it any good?

The most recent non-fiction book I’ve read is the Bible.  I have several books, including a couple of recent ones by Beth Moore, waiting to be read … but with my morning “gig”, reading was one of the things that got pushed to the back burner.  I hope to be able to do more reading now that I’ve “retired” again.  Last night I ordered “A Rooster Once Crowed” after reading Denise’s recommendation (and the note that the kindle version was free at www.amazon.com).

3. Garlic-friend or foe? What's your favorite dish made with garlic?

Friend for sure!  I love, love, love garlic … and rare is the main (or side) dish that cannot be improved with the addition of garlic.  My favorite dish is probably the tutto mare from our favorite restaurant on The Hill in St. Louis.

4. Several Spring flower festivals happen in the US during the month of April. Of those listed, which would you most like to see in person...The Skagit Tulip Festival in Skagit Washington, The Dogwood Arts Festival in Knoxville Tennessee, The North Carolina Azalea Festival in Wilmington North Carolina or the Daffodil Festival Weekend on Nantucket Island, Massachussets?

I’m going to choose the Daffodil Festival Weekend … not because I’m that big of a fan of daffodils, but because it’s on Natucket Island … and visiting Nantucket Island is something I’d love to be able to do.  But most importantly, none of the other festivals take place on/near the beach … and you all know how I feel about the beach.  Winking smile

5. How do you choose which blogs to read?  What is something that will make you stop and read every time? Something that makes you say, 'eh, think I'll skip this one and move on to the next'?

My reader shows a very diverse group of blogs … I like blogs where the bloggers share glimpses into their everyday lives and where we have something in common (quilting, beach, our faith, grandkids, etc.).  I will frequently pass on blogs with songs that play (even if it’s music I like), that require me to “click here to read more” or that aren’t easy to read (like fancy-dancy fonts or no paragraph breaks).

6. April is National Mathematics Education Month so tell us, when did you last use math?

As a quilter, I use math … a lot (although not always as well as I should).

7. In honor of the A-Z challenge kicking off on April 1...choose one word beginning with the letter A to describe your yesterday.

Awesome!  It was sunny and warm … and included a trip to the fabric store.  The only thing missing was some time with my Ts.  Sad smile

8. Insert your own random thought here.

DD is still fighting this pneumonia … ibuprofen isn’t reducing the fever now.  I’ll be heading over there this morning to help out while she tries to get some rest.  She sees her new doctor Friday, so if you could pray that she can “hold on” until then … and that her new doctor will have an effective treatment plan … I’d truly appreciate it.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Kathy

I guess I should have chosen The Daffodil Festival, too, but didn't think about the beach :)

  15. Hi Kathy, Praying for DD and healing.
Love your answers, especially interested in the one about choosing which blogs to read-our answers are pretty similar and I'll admit I read so many but don't always comment. Only my favorites get comments on a regular basis.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Hugs,

  17. I guessed you'd pick the daffodils because of the beach! Glad you had a good day yesterday - mine was a bit aggravating - leaky car radiator! All fixed today and just need to do the vehicle shuffle with car seats and picking up the husband after work. Life would be a lot easier without car seats.... but their safety does outweigh the hassle.
Hope your DD is feeling better soon. Has she tried the Advil and Tylenol together? I do a one two punch with the kids if one doesn't knock it down. I think you just have to wait 1-2 hours in between.

  18. I'll add your daughter to my prayer list. I know the power of prayer. Yes I agree, I don't like the music playing while I'm reading a blog.

  19. I just went and got the book on my Kindle. Thanks for the heads-up.

I don't like the posts that you have to click to read more and I prefer no music too.
