Of both the fast and slow varieties.
Yesterday I spent several hours in the sewing room. I didn’t accomplish quite as much as I had intended because I had to do some unstitching … this time because when I was pressing two rows together, I noticed that one of the light gray pieces was a slightly different shade than all the others. I looked under different lighting conditions and held several other pieces against it … yep, it was different. While it wasn’t a huge difference, it bothered me enough to replace it. I had to unstitch a good chunk of the row and then unstitch to remove that HST block. Thankfully I had a few HST blocks already stitched together so I just sewed it into place and then sewed the rows back together. Time consuming but worth it to me.
I ended up sewing together 6 of the 8 pairs of rows so now I have 3 sets of 4 rows together. Today I’m going to sew together the last 2 pairs of rows and then join together all 4 sets.
After I finish up the quilt top, I probably ought to start cutting the border fabrics (and the last of the fabric for my pineapple quilt for retreat), but I’m anxious to get back to my hexies. I started another Martha Washington’s Flower Garden block last night after dinner. I need to count them again to see how many blocks I have finished … the down side to working on this sporadically is that I can never remember how many I have finished. All I know is that I’ve got enough hexies ready and waiting to make a total of 50 blocks. I think that this is my least favorite block as I just don’t like the center and inner ring combination. But I’m going to finish it … we’ll see how it looks when I lay them all out on my design floor. And since I’m planning on setting my blocks in a 7x7 layout, there will be a block leftover … it may be this one. I’ll be linking to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching and to A Quilting Reader’s Garden’s Hexie Weekend.
During our evening visit to the garden, I discovered 2 more zucchinis … a total of 4 now. We harvested one and added it to the zucchinis DH bought at the farmers market yesterday morning (one zucchini just won’t be enough for the two of us) … we’ll be having zucchini with dinner tonight.
Hope you all are having a blessed Sunday!
