Wednesday Hodgepodge

It’s Wednesday again, and it’s crunch time for our trip.  I have to admit that I was tempted to just pass on this week’s Hodgepodge, but when I remembered that I’ll be missing next week’s, I had to jump in this week.  Why don’t you join me – just click on the button above.

1. What's the best thing about growing older?

Grandchildren, without a doubt!  Red heart

2. When did you first feel like a grown up?

When I became a mama.  Suddenly I had someone else relying on me for her very existence … huge wake up call to adulthood.

3. Chocolate cake with white icing or white cake with chocolate icing?

White cake … and don’t be surprised if I scrape off the icing and just eat the cake.  Winking smile

4. What's the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for you?

When I was a single mom and a full-time student, finishing up my degree, someone brought us a box of food.  It was just what we needed.

5.  What's something you learned from your grandparents?

I can’t think of anything.  I spent a good bit of time with my maternal grandmother, but I can’t think of anything in particular that I learned from her.

6. Wednesday marks a sad day in the history of planet earth-9/11...what's something you do (or can do) to bring peace to your little corner of the world?

Be kind, be courteous, be patient, be loving.

7.  Share a favorite quote, scripture, or song containing the word peace.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. ~ John 14:27

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

We are now just a little over 24 hours from leaving.  We’ll hit the road as soon as I get home from DD’s tomorrow morning.  I’m not taking my laptop, so I won’t be blogging while we’re gone … I’m hoping to have a few pictures to share when we get back.  See ya on the flipside!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  1. Have a good trip! Enjoy those waves crashing onto the beach.
My kids would be great with you - they'd eat the frosting and you could eat the cake!

  2. I told you that your trip would be here before you knew it! So excited for you! Please sink your toes into that warm sand just for me! Ah...cannot wait to have grandbabies to love and to spoil! Enjoy your day, Kathy...see ya when you return!

  3. Good morning! So happy and excited for you! Enjoy every little minute of your trip!

I don't get the injections until she get's the approval. She said is takes about a week to get it. Then you get one injection a week for 3 weeks. We will see!

    Blessings and hugs to you!

  4. Have a wonderful trip! Hopefully you'll have great weather. ~Jeanne

  5. Have a lovely trip, I hope you have beautiful weather. I hope you do take some pictures.
I liked all of your answers too. Isn't it so nice that someone brought you a box of food? I always think those are the best memories to look back on.
    Have fun.

  6. I agree, when I became a parent it was a whole new ball game! I don't care for frosting unless it's whipped cream. I too spend time with my grandparents but nothing significant was learned which is sad and her I am wanting to make an impact on my grandchildren but I don't have any :(
    Have the best of times......

  7. Oh, yes, we agree on the chocolate!

And, that scripture, such a wonderful verse!

Enjoy your time away and we'll be leaving next Wed. headed to Dallas and then on to Kansas, so we'll connect when we both return.

    Happy travels!

  8. I'm with you on the cake with no icing thing - sometimes it's just too sweet. Can't miss out on cake though!!

Hope you have a great trip.

  9. Dear Kathy, Safe travels my friend!
We are leaving tomorrow as well, a day earlier than we thought just so we don't have to drive 12 hr days.

  10. You may feel free to send me all your scraped off icing! I love cake and icing......can't have it near or it will not be good for my body!!

I learned so many things from my maternal grandma! She was so special and so strong and had such a strong faith. She loved to tell us what little ladies and gentlemen would not whistling in the house! 😊

Have so much fun on your trip and I'll be looking forward to your pictures!

    Love that scripture!

I am SO glad you stopped by! No proving that you're a robot here ... I want to hear what you have to say! ;-)
