Back Home ... For A While

DH and I are back home ... temporarily.  A nasty bug has struck DD and is looking to settle in on T#1 next, so we all decided that it would be safer to have me back here at home than at DD's. DH was excited about regaining our independence ... until he learned how much time and effort is involved in my care at this stage of my recovery. ;-)  I'm kidding ... he's been a real champ since day one, and he hasn't complained a bit now that he's responsible for my care.

I will say that it is nice to be back on our own ... I too had missed our independence, but I'm missing my Ts and DD an awful lot right now.  :-(   And of course, I'm concerned about how they're feeling, praying continuously that they'll all be well soon so we can be together again.

I do have to admit that I glanced longingly into my sewing room when we first got back here.  But I suspect that sitting at the sewing machine for a few hours might be more than I ought to be taking on right now. And there's no way that I can pick up my hand quilting right now, considering that I rest the hoop against my abdomen while quilting. :-o  One of these days ...

We have had some nice weather, warm but windy ... but winter looks to make its return this evening with a low of 32. Spring has been especially fickle this year.

I hope that whatever you have planned for today includes a little something that brings you joy ... have a great day!
Kathy

  1. Oh, I hope the bug doesn't go through the whole family. How miserable for your daughter. I'm sure she is sorry to have to have you leave. But she has been so supportive of you, just as you always are of her and her family.

  2. I hope the entire family doesn't get sick but it does sound like it is best to be back home - and you will be back home for good before you know it! hard as it is to let the sewing set aside for awhile it is probably best - maybe some hand work - hexies?

  3. I hope you and your DH stay well and can enjoy this respite time at home. Best for you to stay well and regain your strength while your daughter and her famity recover from their flu bug. They will no doubt be amazed at the progress you're making when they haven't seen you for a week or so, and that will be so heartening for them. Blessings to all of you!

  5. Home Sweet Home - doesn't our own home always feel good?! I hope DD and the Ts are better soon and that you two stay fine. If you want to do some handwork, have you ever tried hand piecing? I made a small table mat when I couldn't sit at my machine or hand quilt a few years ago. It really helped my need to touch fabric. Take care! ~Jeanne

  9. I am sure it must feel so nice to be back in your own home. I am so sorry that your DD has come down with something. We recently had a bug going through our community. I got it of course but it missed my DH. So hopefully all T's don't come down with it. I am praying for you dear Kathy.

  10. I somehow missed this yesterday...I am sure it must feel good to be back home in many ways, though I do pray that your daughter's family recover quickly from their flu bug, they've been practically nasty this year it seems. I do pray you are regaining your strength and feeling a little bit better everyday in the meantime. I can't wait until you feel well enough to pick up that needle and pass some time doing one of the things you love best. Praying for you always!

  11. Kathy, I haven't been reading blogs as much as I used to, and I've missed out on your whole ordeal. I've just read back several posts, and it looks like you have a sunny outlook! Best wishes as you continue to recuperate. Hopefully you'll be back to sewing in the near future.

  15. How nice that you get to revisit your real life! Hope everyone gets over the bad stuff really quickly. Isn't it funny - when you're young you really thing everything has to be done RIGHT NOW. We know better now. Glad you have to smarts to know your limitations. ;-) Hugs and love my friend.
