Friday's Musings

Now that we've seen two World Series games, all I can say is now that is more like it!!

I have good news and not such good news regarding my finger. The good news is that overall, I think it's doing a little better. The periods of tingliness are a little less frequent and some times I'm scarcely feeling the tingliness unless I press the finger tip with a nail from my left hand. I'm going to hope that means that it's improving.  The not so good news is that the tingliness flares up on occasions even when I haven't really been using that finger.   ??   I also have to admit that I'm getting pretty discouraged - not only does having to rest the finger mean that I cannot so the things I enjoy (quilting, hand stitching, machine sewing, etc.) but it also means that I can't do some of the things I really need to do (as a result of shoulder issues, I have very little strength in my left arm, and having to favor the finger makes it difficult to rely on my right hand for many tasks).

Yesterday we drove over to St. Louis to drop off my sewing machine for its annual tune up and repair. I've got a mini retreat to attend on November 8 (praying hard that the finger won't force me to be a "no-show") so I will need my machine back and stitching like a charm.

Winter is here ... we had a low of 27 last night!  Yikes!  So much for fall.

Got a busy day ahead - spending the day at my dad's and watching the Blues play tonight.  Hope you all have a fabulous Friday!

  3. Praying with you for healing of that finger!!! Finally catching up with some of my favorite blogs and was aghast to see that you've been dealing with such a difficult injury :( I does sound like something that will pass - one day I bet you will just realize that it the pain is gone!

I just read your Hodgepodge post too, and once again I am amazed at how alike we are in so many things :*) Have a great weekend!!!

  4. Oh Kathy I am sorry the finger is continuing to keep you from doing what you want...soo frustrating I know! You won't believe what I discovered was causing my stiff and sore finger....I am somewhat embarrassed to even tell you...but! I have always been a hair twiller. I know that sounds weird, and I guess it is, but at night when I finally sit down for the day my hand ~ or my index finger on my left hand ~ begins to unconsciously twirl a few strands of my hair round and round and round! It is I guess a nervous habit that I have had since I was young. Anyway, a couple of nights ago ~ the day my finger was soo bad ~ I sat down that evening to relax and as usual tried to start twirling and realized as I did it was just where it hurt the most. I quickly stopped and and now without any twirling for the last two nights the pain is 100 percent gone and my finger is totally fine! Goodness who would ever figure I was doing it to myself with such a dumb thing. But honestly it is SUCH a habit, I have had to concentrate hard NOT to do it...sigh, lol. And you know what? My oldest grand daughter does the same thing. We have caught each other when we are talking or relaxing and mentioned to the other, "you're twirling" haha She is actually much worse than I am as her hair is soo long so she does it all the time. I would NEVER twirl mine during the day therefore messing up my hair. lol Anyway, sorry this story is soo long. I still think yours will be better soon and you will be back to all your regular things. Enjoy your week-end sweet friend!

  5. Kathy, I am sorry you are feeling discouraged. Doesn't sound like any fun to be at a disadvantage on both sides. I wish you well and hope you are able to go to your retreat and enjoy!

  8. Oh no, hopefully that finger heals soon. At least it is getting a little better.
46 degrees this morning... had to pull out the winter coats for the kids to bring them to school. At least it warms up here during the day!

  11. Hi, I hadn't heard who won last nights game-hopefully your team will continue to play strong. I'm sorry your finger is still not back to normal. I'll be praying for it to heal before your retreat. So wish we were neighbors-we'd have such fun together. I'm about ready to wash fabric for my Alaska trip. Sending hugs to you tonight.
