Slow Stitching Sunday

I can’t begin to tell you all how much I’ve been looking forward to this weekend … with so much on the calendar this month, I’m ecstatic to have a couple of days with nothing planned … beyond ecstatic even, since you know that means time spent with needle and thread.  Winking smile

I’m continuing to stitch away on DH’s quilt.  It’s slow going … thankfully I’ve chosen a simple quilting pattern (straight lines down the center of each “log”), but even so it’s been a long time since I had a big chunk of time to be able to quilt … little bits here and there do add up … albeit so very slowly.  I am almost done with block #15 (out of 63).  I won’t get it done before I start working on T#3’s quilt (after the first of the year), but it will be waiting for me.  IMG_1064I took this photo last night when I moved the hoop … I realize that other than the change in the placement of the hoop, you really don’t see much of a difference in this picture from the one I posted a few days ago.  Such is the nature of the beast when quilting something like a log cabin.  Winking smile  I plan to quilt while watching some Christmas movies this afternoon  … White Christmas is at the top of the list  -
Snow … I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow
Snow … I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow … Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow

Speaking of snow, today is the first day of winter … although we’ve been having wintery weather for over a month now.
We have rain/snow in the forecast for Christmas Eve (hoping for snow but expecting rain) … but alas, it would not matter as the forecast high for Christmas Day is a balmy 50.  Surprised smile

I blogged last month about our “issues” with our printer … it would constantly drop the wifi connection, requiring us to reboot the modem in order for the printer to reconnect – every. single. time. we needed to print something.  Annoyed   We finally bit the bullet and purchased a new printer Thursday evening.  So far so good.

I hope that whatever you have planned for today includes a little something that brings you joy! Have a great day!
Kathy

  1. Love you log cabin! I just watched Holiday Inn and White Christmas back to back yesterday--can't get that Snow song out of my head! I have exactly the same problem with my printer and it is so frustrating! I feel like my printer isn't that old and it should just work!! Argh!! Mine is a Kodak--not sure if that's the problem?
    Happy Stitching!

  2. Maybe the only difference in the pictures is the placement of the hoop but I have checked and that hoop has moved a lot since the last picture. So, a pat on the back Kathy for making very good progress during the most busy week of the year. Good job!!

  4. Happy Stitching Weekend! Not sure what we are doing today - may go to hockey, may not. We are both almost recovered from some nasty colds. At least it wasn't the flu. Does sound like we might get a bit of snow before Thursday - yay! So glad your printer issues are over. Enjoy your stitching! ~Jeanne

  5. so nice to have a weekend without anything that you have to do isn't it. I'm just baking this weekend but not near like I use to - after all I think I have finally faced it - if I bake it I eat it and with only two people in the house most of the time we eat way too many sweets at Christmas time.
No snow predicted here. When I make a log cabin I general quilt in the center of the log block in a spiral starting at the center tiny block and going out and then maybe in the ditch between blocks - not a lot of quilting but it gets the job done.

  7. Oh no - really? The first day of winter? Ugh!!!! Well, like you, we've been having winter weather for a month now, so at least that means we are closer to spring. Can you tell I'm not a winter person? LOL!!!

Your quilt is really looking great! I know how lovely it feels to have that time all your own to do what you love - enjoy it my friend!!!! Love Winter Wonderland :)

  12. Oh, we have had a low key weekend too and it's been wonderful except that Hubby has been so sick with a cold and congestion. He's had a shot and lots of meds so hopefully he will be better soon! Love the quilt! Merriest of Christmases if I don't get back by between now and then.

  13. Every movement of the hoop means progress is being made... slowly, but surely!

  14. I am feeling the same way about my current projects. Not enough long days of stitching only a few minutes here or there. But the reall winter weather will arrive soon and being under the quilt will be wonderful
