Wednesday Hodgepodge

I can’t remember the last time I joined in on the Hodgepodge fun.  Way too long, I’m sure.  If you’d like to join in the fun, too, just click on the button above.

1. Are you comfortable with silence? If you're home alone, do you like silence or do you need regular background noise? Do you seek out times and places to be silent? What's your favorite place to find silence/be silent?

Silence doesn’t bother me.  Perhaps because I’m very much the introvert (or as I prefer to say, I’m quite comfortable with my own company – ha!), I don’t need a lot of conversation.  That’s not to say that I don’t have some background noise from time to time.  Winking smile

2. October 28th is National Chocolate Day. Can't let that go by without a mention now, can we? Will you celebrate? How? Let's say you can have one of the following right this very minute... a cup of hot chocolate, a strawberry dipped in chocolate, a bowl of plain chocolate ice cream, or a slice of chocolate pie...what's your pleasure?

I may be the only one to answer this way, but I can generally take or leave chocolate.  I’m not a huge fan, but I don’t dislike chocolate either.  I will say that I prefer my chocolate with something else where it plays an accompanying role rather than the star of the show (as in a candy bar).  Of the choices above, I’d choose the strawberry dipped in chocolate.

3. How do you feel about blue jeans? Favorite thing in the world to wear or nope, don't own a single pair? How often do you wear blue jeans in a typical week? Do you own a blue jean jacket?

I Red heart Red heart Red heart blue jeans!  In fact, I can’t remember the last time I wore something other than blue jeans (when wearing long pants).  So, in a typical week, I wear jeans 7 days.  Winking smile  I don’t own a blue jean jacket … in fact, I don’t recall ever owning one, and I’m not sure why.

4. Are you superstitious? If so, in what way?

No, not really.  I don’t believe in good luck or bad luck nor do I believe that we can determine an outcome by performing some kind of ritual.  I believe in a God who has a plan, and while He’s not a puppeteer controlling our strings, I believe that nothing is done outside of His sovereign control … that He works out or allows everything in keeping with His divine plan

5. If you had to come up with a costume using only things you have on hand right now, what could you come up with?

I’m not very creative so someone else might be able to come up with a fabulous costume using whatever I happen to have around the house.  I do have a hockey jersey in my closet so maybe I could pass for a hockey player?

6. What scares you a little? What do you do when you feel scared?

Heights scare me more than a little.  I’m petrified of heights.  I won’t even do ladders without a goodly amount of fear and trembling.

7. Perhaps today will be the day I ______________________________.

Hmmmmm … I’m drawing a blank on this one.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I took advantage of my “free” day yesterday and made good progress on my Labor Day Stars.  I am a little more than halfway done on block #4 (out of 18).  I’m not sure that I’ll get this done before the end of November (what with swim meets, a quilt retreat, and going out of town for Thanksgiving), but surely early December?   IMG_0243Again, the colors are washed out here.  Sad smile

I hope that whatever you have planned for today includes a little something that brings you joy ... have a great day!

  1. Hi Kathy--I am also afraid of heights--no ladders or ledges or ravines--I don't NEED to see that view from our roof (thanks anyway, DH)...hugs, Julierose

  2. Dropping by from Wednesday HodgePodge! I agree with your answer to #4. Your quilt square is beautiful.

  3. Morning, great to see that you joined Hodgepodge this morning! I'm with you...I don't like heights, either. Of course, I can fly in an airplane easily and hike mountains without any problems. I just don't like looking out over the edges of tall buildings. Really love your quilt!

  4. so glad to not be afraid of heights with all the mountain trails that I enjoy - but my fear water - I can edge carefully in it but never go in water above my waist and do not feel comfortable in that - can't stand getting water on my face unless I put it there - comes from a close call years ago but lets not go there!
love chocolate, love blue jeans and rarely wear other pants except sweats. do not believe in luck - very comfortable with silence!

  5. That quilt square is beautiful! I see that we feel the same about blue jeans. I didn't realize there was anything else to wear all day. LOL Over the weekend I saw the movie Bridge of Spies where the woman of the house seemed to wear a skirt, sweater, and pearls as her daily outfit. Yikes! Glad those days are over. LOL

  6. Heights are another thing that get to me. Yikes. I try to avoid them as much as possible.

  7. It's nice to see you in the HP this week! You're not the only non-chocoholic here today. I love chocolate, but am not an addict : ) Enjoy your day!

  8. I am very much not a fan of heights. I get dizzy and queasy up there.

I love your quilt. That's very pretty. I hope you will share the entire thing once it's completed.

  9. I don't care for heights either... but I did kiss the Blarney stone... which is very difficult to get to! Of the chocolate choices - I'd choose all of them at once! =) Great progress on your LD quilt. I think I'll cut some apples for a pie and then do some hand quilting... the kids are reading their new books from the library!

  10. I war blue jeans every day, too! I decided my answer to #2 would be I would take a slice of chocolate pie topped with chocolate ice cream and a strawberry dipped in chocolate with a cup of hot chocolate on the side! 🍦🍖☕

  11. Funny, we feel the same about chocolate, take it or leave it. Yes, your quilt does look very good!

  12. Your quilt is looking good and I'm introvert who is comfortable with quietness too!

  13. With the suddenly cool Fall weather today, I would take a cup of hot chocolate right about now, thank you. But I do love chocolate in combination with other things more than all by itself--chocolate covered nuts, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, and the dipped strawberries are yummy!

  14. It's so good to see you joining The Hodgepodge again, and I'm glad I was able to join, as well:) I love your answer to #4. I'm so thankful God is in control. It's what's gotten me through this very difficult year. Like the hymn says, "I know who holds tomorrow and I know who holds my hand."

  15. The Hodgepodge post was a fun read! I read another blog that does this sometimes too ! Not a heights fan either. Flying in an airplane does not bother me though, go figure :)

  16. The Hodgepodge post was a fun read! I read another blog that does this sometimes too ! Not a heights fan either. Flying in an airplane does not bother me though, go figure :)

  17. I love blue jeans too! I'm not afraid of heights but don't like hiking near a cliff. Your Labor Day Stars is lovely. Happy Halloween and have fun with the T's!

  18. I mentally answered the questions posed for Wednesday Hodgepodge. I'm an introvert too and don't mind silence but I often have music playing in the background. And I don't like heights, either, but I make myself do it just to prove to myself that I can. There's some odd thrill about it even through the fear. (Crazy, I know.) And I love that He has a plan and knows the end from the beginning.

I am SO glad you stopped by! No proving that you're a robot here ... I want to hear what you have to say! ;-)
