The Weekend Wrap-up

Didn’t I just do a Weekend Wrap-up yesterday?  I am amazed at how time just flies by … I know I say that every Monday, but I guess I keep thinking that one of these days, time will slow down.  ha!

I didn’t get any progress made on my Storm at Sea this weekend … it’s beginning to look like I won’t get it into a hoop until next week.

Friday I spent the day at DD’s … she worked that afternoon, and after she and DSIL got home, they suggested that we call Papa (DH) and ask him to come join us for some game time.  I suggested that he stop on the way and bring some carryout at our favorite Chinese place.  I don’t remember who won the games, but I do remember the fun we had and the laughs we shared.

We visited my Dad on Saturday.  He’s getting so frail, and he was having a particularly bad day.  He’s adamant about staying in his home, and while he does have some days that are better than others, I still worry that one of these days he’s not going to be able to live on his own.

Not long after we got home from church Sunday, we got a phone call from DD … her in-laws needed some help.  They’ve always had some health issues, but after her MIL’s emergency surgery a couple of weeks ago, things have gotten significantly worse.  DD and DSIL went to help them reorganize/rearrange their apartment to try to make it a little easier for them … so we had all four Ts over for the afternoon.

It doesn’t look like things are going to slow down today … DD works in the morning, I have a hair cut this afternoon, we have small group this evening.  It doesn’t look like I’m going to get any time in the sewing room until tomorrow afternoon … although that’s subject to change.  Winking smile

Hope you have a marvelous Monday!

  1. Good morning! Sorry to hear about your dad. It is soo hard to watch your parents age. I pray he is able to stay on his own safely for as long as he so desires. Does sound like you have been a busy lady. And I know how you feel...I have found myself looking ahead to my week recently, and trying to figure out just how much time I will have to spend at my sewing machine, haha. Wait until you hear about my class experience...sigh, haha. Enjoy your day!

  2. Sorry you didn't get to sew - sometimes life gets in the way. And truthfully, we wouldn't want it any other way. So glad you are there for your Dad and also for your DD. You make a difference in their lives which I'm sure is appreciated. Hope your week goes well. ~Jeanne

  3. Your life sounds a lot like mine! I always say that someday I will have tons of time to sew, but we are needed elsewhere right now.

  4. Family time is always a good exchange for sewing time. I care really identify with life being busy, I am not running around as much as I did when my children were small but my days are still full. Honestly I wouldn't want it any other way

  5. It's very tough to watch your parents grow weaker and weaker. I remember when we had to make the decision to put my dad in an assisted-living facility. One of the hardest decisions I've ever made. Prayers being sent up on the behalf of you and your dad.

  6. Prayers are going up for your dad (and you, too). It's very difficult watching loved ones slowly losing their independence.

Hoping you get some quilting time soon :)

  7. Hi Kathy, I well remember how difficult it is when our dads get frail and you don't know how long they can be alone. As always, you are right there to help others-I know you and your hubby are blessings.
Hope you have a good day, even though you won't be stitching.
    Hugs, Noreen

  8. I hate to admit this, but I am envious of you getting to be so close to your daughter and her family. I dream for that, but don't think it will ever happen.

Hair cuts are always a good thing. I have one on Wednesday.

  9. Your poor dad...

I'm leaving work in a few minutes to go pick my dad up from the hospital... they always say the parents become the child... I see & hear it more often every day

  10. Oh, bless you and your Dad. It is so tough becoming the parent of your parent. I'm so grateful that my Dad was able to move from the nursing home to an assisted living facility and he is very, very happy there.

And, what a load for your DD and DSIL to have young children and parents with health issues. They are young to already have to deal with that.

Hope you get some sewing time tomorrow.
