While basting a few hexies last night while watching the men's hockey game (recorded from the mornining's broadcast), I noticed that my basting thread matches my scissors!
There will be more stitching (hopefully on my Storm at Sea) tonight as I'm recording the women's hockey gold medal game today. I don't know about you all, but I'll miss the Olympics when they come to a close on Sunday. I'm certainly looking forward to the summer Olympics in 2016, now that we have some swimmers in the family.
I know that many locales lay claim to the saying that if you don't like the current weather, wait a little while and it'll change. It's certainly true here in southwestern Illinois ... we had freezing rain/ice on Monday and on Tuesday we had a high of 60. Today we're going to have more springlike weather ... warmer temperatures and severe thunderstorms (which have just moved in, bringing some small hail with). No worries, though, winter will be back in full force next week, with single-digit lows and some more snow.
Have a great day!

I often wonder where those 'empty' days of retirement are! I, too, enjoy my life but sometimes have to hunt to find time to quilt. I'd never see a needle and thread if I was still working! I do hope spring is coming… ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI understand...I am happy to be "on call" for my grands as well. And I will miss the Olympics, too. SO nice to have something exciting and enjoyable to watch on TV!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what it is I am ALWAYS doing (sewing for others perhaps?) but I am the same way it seems. Lost somewhere in the shuffle, lol. Good thing I sooo enjoy it. Hope you don't get that bug either...that's what would concern me. Seems I catch everything so easy. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to be a hands-on Grandma. There will someday be plenty of time for stitching.
ReplyDeleteThe weather comment is true here in central Illinois too! :-)
ReplyDeleteI adore retirement and love waking up each day knowing the day is full of possibilities! Love those acissors!
ReplyDeleteFor me it seems like every time I turn around someone in my family has serious medical issues, and right now there are several at the same time. Taking meals, doing errands, helping with chores, and babysitting make me even more of a late night stitcher--or I wouldn't be a stitcher at all. : )
ReplyDeleteYour weather has been crazy, I agree!
Nana, I'm a firm believer that we are exactly where we are supposed to be. The day will come when you wake up (when you want to) and have nothing but craft time until dinner! I look forward to that time, myself! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWell I hope it doesn't get really out of hand. We might have some storms next week as well. I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI will be basting more hexies tonight. It is thundering now so I guess the weatherman is right storms on their way. But right now I am enjoying the 74 degree weather listening to the birds at the feeder as I have backdoor open. Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are loving your retirement even though you are staying busy. One of these days, it'll be my turn, I hope. :)
ReplyDeleteWe've been enjoying the Olympics as well! Enjoy your rain, we are getting LOTS of snow today. Blech.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been a little crazy this winter, we are supposed to get the thunder storms tomorrow then next week winter again.
ReplyDeleteWhen I stopped working I thought my days would be carefree to but they are anything but...my husband has asked me more than once how in the world I ever had time to work. Hope you enjoy your weekend.
Sometimes I wonder where those lazy, carefree days of retirement are, too:)
ReplyDeleteOur weather is ever-changing, as well. Ice storms one week, summer temps the next!
I, too, will miss the Olympics.
Hi Kathy, Happy Friday to you! I heard you were getting some weird weather and tornadoes? I think everyone is experiencing something different this year. Yesterday was so windy that I didn't even walk, unless you consider Costco exercise.
ReplyDeleteI always remember that by the time the Olympics are over, I'm ready. WE haven't watched much the last couple of nights. Hoping your DD's bug wasn't long lasting. We are supposed to get some rain here next week-we only get rain in the late spring and summer-so weird.
Have a great day my friend.
Noreen
I'm going to miss the Olympics however I have not watched any hockey. I watch the 3 1/2 show each night biting my lips!!! Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou are inspiring for sure. We only have 2 Grans and only 1 here. On the rare occasion that they are both here we are worn to a frazzle after they leave. They are great kids, but they just take a lot of energy. :o)
ReplyDeleteI can certainly understand why you might not have a whole lot of energy for stitching when you've been with the T's most of the day. But, as we know, they will be grown and gone and you will have all the time in the world for stitching.
Wishing you a happy weekend!
We all want to do what we want to do when we want to do it, but if we are wise, and I believe you are, we will always choose the people we love over things we love. Somehow there will always be room for both!
