I have to tell you how excited I am to be able to spend today with my needle and thread. It’s been more than a couple of days since I had several hours to just sit and quilt. Not that I’m complaining since most of those days were spent at DD’s … and time with her and my Ts will always trump quilting! But … having said that, I am looking forward to a day of quilting today. I got the house tidied up (amazing how low my cleaning standards have fallen over the last 4-5 years … I’m ok as long as the house is tidy! ha!) and have some laundry going (when DH has to go fetch clean clothes out of the laundry basket, that tells me that it’s time to get caught up on folding laundry from who knows how long ago and perhaps start another load or two while I’m in there) … no excuse not to be able to quilt away!
I asked my sister, who makes/sells pillows on Etsy, to make a couple of pillows to go with the chevron quilt I’m making for her … quatrefoil is a favorite design of hers, so I found a couple of yards of it. The pillows were delivered yesterday … now I have even more incentive to get the quilt done! The one on the left shows the back, with the button opening … the one on the right shows the front.
As I mentioned, the last several days have been busy … spending the afternoons at DD’s. Friday T#2 begged me to join them for the closing program for VBS. She and T#4 sang … T#3 was too nervous to get up on the stage. Of course, I couldn’t say no. I took a few pictures, but when I zoom in with my iPhone, the pictures are so grainy … without zooming in, you can’t tell who’s who. Ugh! I wish I had had my camera with me! I MUST keep it in my purse!! I specifically got a small one so I could keep it handy. Grrrr
Yesterday, we went to visit my dad. I had hoped to get in a few stitches when we got home, but I was encountering email issues … and by the time I got off the phone with our ISP, the mood had passed.
So you can see why I’m overdue to spend some quality time with my needle and thread. As soon as I link up to Kathy’s slow stitching party I’m going to go grab my needle and thread and quilt, quilt, quilt!
Hope you all have a blessed Sunday!
Kathy
Have a lovely day today getting to quilt. I love those pillows.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like just a very busy time. I think spending any day with the grands is a good day. :)
I hope you have a lovely week.
Darling pillows! I've spent a little time in my sewing room today pinning a quilt. The weather is cooling and getting less humid - just turned the A/C off. Think I'll head back to the sewing room after lunch - we'll quilt together today even though we are apart! Enjoy! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteENJOY! :) Pillows are lovely!
ReplyDeleteHave a great sewing day.
ReplyDeleteLove those pillows your sis made... so glad you get to stitch today! Your dd is gonna love this new quilt and pillows for her bed I am sure :) Kathi
ReplyDeleteThose pillows are going to be perfect with your chevron quilt, lucky daughter! Chase's team lost 1-0 today. The other team scored at 86 minutes of a 94 minute game. They played well and that is what counts. Second place in the country is something to crow about! I am the same about house work as the years go by. Just not as important as it used to be.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are getting a sewing day! I love the pillows that your sister made. I would definitely not want any one to stop by unannounced, house cleaning has really taking a back seat around here lately!
ReplyDeleteWOnderful to hear you are treating yourself to some relaxing stitching... enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHi, Kathy! I sure hope you're getting your stitching time this afternoon!
ReplyDeleteSounds like we could both use some stitching time, Kathy! : )
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your stitching!
ReplyDeleteNothing feeds the soul like needle and thread, wishing you some piece-ful time. I just love those pillows!!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your quilting day yesterday! I am LOVING those pillows to go with the quilt. It is all going to be just perfect! Hope today is another productive day!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you were definitely due for some needle time!!! I've not had time as much this summer either, but hopefully this week will be better :)
ReplyDeleteI've just been doing some catching up over here. I'm sorry it's been a few days since I was able to visit.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I'm so sorry your zucchini 'bit the dust'. Gardening is almost always a challenge! At least you did get 4 of them, as well as some tomatoes and green beans :)
The chevron quilt is beautiful, and so large! I know you'll be proud when it's finished, especially with the challenges you've had.
I'm glad you finally got the issue resolved, satisfactorily, concerning the shrinking fabric, too:)
We all need some slow stitching after a busy week! I hope you had a good day on Sunday,
ReplyDeleteThose pillow are really pretty. Hope you got some sewing time in and that you've been able to find a little more time throughout this past week.
