A Little of This and a Little of That

We did make it to the zoo yesterday Red heart and I must tell you that we had a wonderful time.  It was a warm day but very windy … so windy, in fact, that we held on tight to the littles … didn’t want them to blow away!  Winking smile  Seriously, it wasn’t that windy … but it was close!

T#3 is learning about goats, so one of our stops was the Children’s Zoo, where they were able to pet/brush goats.  There was even a little goat who was climbing the rock wall, so T#3 got to see just how the hooves that God made for the goats helped them climb.  We saw the elephants (including a baby elephant), the penguins and puffins (including a baby penguin), rode the carousel, and collected some pressed pennies.  Our last stop was at the Build-a-Bear store where Nana treated the Ts to a Leap Day treat.  T#1 chose a guinea pig, T#2 chose a giraffe, T#3 chose a panda, and T#4 chose a penguin.

We got back in time to tidy up at DD’s before heading to church for the meal/meeting about the transition to 2 worship services.  I came away last night a little disconcerted.  This was the first time that the specific worship times were announced, and we were already expected to know which service we planned to attend (I hadn’t even had time to think/pray about it, let alone learn what time my Sunday School class would be meeting, etc.).  But my biggest concern was that instead of recruiting new servers, they are expecting the existing servers to serve more often … if I continue to serve as a greeter and as a toddler nursery worker, I will have to either give up attending worship or Sunday School (because of the amount of time that each requires, I will not be able to do both the same month … I would have to serve in the toddler nursery during the month that I’m off as a greeter).  Sad smile

I’ve got nothing planned for today, which will be nice after a couple of pretty busy days.  I hope to be able to do some quilting today … I wasn’t able to do any quilting the last couple of days (not that I’m complaining … spending time with the grands will trump quilting any day of the week! Red heart Red heart Red heart), so it will be wonderful to be able to spend some time with my needle and thread.  It’s supposed to be another nice day (not quite as warm as it was yesterday), so I hope to be able to get outside for a walk.

  1. I know with my volunteering at church, I feel like sometimes I'm pulled in too many direction for my own soul to get fed... but also know the importance of serving. Its tough sometimes.

I've never gone to Build a Bear but want to do it myself :)

  2. My girls use to love build a bear!!! It was a special treat to you there. I am getting ready now to take Tucker for our daily walk.

  3. The trip to the zoo sounds wonderful. I do hope you get to sew today. I am going to try and get back my mojo today. I just can't wait to sew again.
I hope you get to sit outside today.
    We have wind today too.
It is nice getting caught up with you today.

  4. It sounds like it was a great day with the littles and I hope you have some sewing time today.

That does sound like a challenge at church.

  5. Sounds like a fun day at the zoo and seeing the little babies is the best! My 30 year old daughter collects the smashed pennies. Have a great day. I have a haircut and color today.

  6. Decided to try the Linky so I am following you on it.

  7. Hi there, You sure have been busy! Glad you enjoyed the zoo and I do think you probably burned off more calories there than at the gym. All I know is that we are headed to the Islands in 6 weeks and I really need to lose five pounds at least-maybe 8. Don't think my exercise class will do it, I probably need to work more on the treadmill or bike.
After I finish checking blogs, I'm going to be stitching.
    Hugs, Noreen

  8. I used to take my kids down to Forest Park Zoo every year! They just loved it - now I hope to take my grandchildren there someday. (the grandson is still keeping us all waiting)

  9. I love love love going to the zoo so I'm glad you went and enjoyed it in spite of the wind. My grandson collects the flat pennies too. Sandie

  10. Sounds like a fun day at the zoo. I still enjoy going : ) Hope you come to a sense of peace about where and how best to give your time. I think those who are serving need to be served too, so as not to burn out. It's hard when you know there is such a need for volunteers.

    Have a good weekend!

  11. Good Morning Kathy I just wanted you to know that I deleted my other blog. I weighed this morning and decided that it was time to stop. I had gained and I am so tired of thinking about what I weigh.
I just wanted to say thank you for following me and for being such an encouragement to me, You have really helped me and I am so glad that we have got to be friends. That is the good thing to come out of this.
    So thank you very much,

  12. Oh, so many changes taking place in churches today. Our church is making a huge decision about partnering with a larger church in a nearby city. It is a huge decision that will impact our church forever. I have such mixed emotions about the entire deal, but am praying that God's will be done.

Oh, our Grans love to go to the zoo. Problem is we do not have a nice one nearby. We have to drive 90 miles to a good one. Clancy does live near one and his parents take him often.

    Have a great weekend!

  13. I love going to the zoo!!! Anytime, any day. And goats...I've always been 'infatuated' with their eyes.

I am SO glad you stopped by! No proving that you're a robot here ... I want to hear what you have to say! ;-)
