Gray Skies … Nothing but Gray Skies All Day Long

Sung to the tune of Blue Skies.  It’s another dreary, cold day here … if we’re going to have such ugly days, wouldn’t you think we could at least have some snow to go with it?  Yes, I’ll confess that I’m crazy about snow (although some might say that I’m just plain crazy – ha!).  Although I have to be honest and admit that I’m not disappointed that we were spared the worst of the storm that moved through Tuesday evening … areas about an hour to the south of us are reporting 14 1/2 inches of snow.  Surprised smile  No, 3-4 inches would have been just fine.

I have 14 of the 16 blocks finished for my disappearing four patch.  Here are some of the finished blocks as well as one of the four patches (upper left hand corner) prior to being cut and re-sewn.Unfortunately, the colors in this photo are NOT true at all!  Sad smile  Here’s a more accurate picture of the fabrics I used.

Today I plan to finish the remaining 2 blocks, get the top sandwiched together with the batting and backing, and get started on the hand quilting.

In addition to working on my quilt, my plans include watching the Ts this afternoon for a short time while Mama takes one of their kitties to the vet for a check-up. Red heart

A day with my Ts and quilting … pretty close to perfect (if I could just combine Ts, quilting and the beach – now that would be perfect!  Winking smile)

  1. Isnt it crazy how different a picture can be to an actual color?

Its gloomy here too... I need the sunshine - SOON!!!

Enjoy the afternoon with the T's

  2. It sounds like a perfect day. I hope you get snow. I can't believe it is just passing you by. We have had rain and for the first time in a long time it rained all night. It is snowing in the mountains.
Your quilt looks great! I wonder why camera don't show the real colors. I had the same problem with taking pictures of my rugs.
Well have a nice time today. Stay warm and I will pray you get snow. :)

  3. It does sound like a perfect day. I love what your working on, very pretty!

  4. I would love a trip to the beach too!! Sounds great.

  5. Hi, I love your blocks-great job as always. It is snowing here and so cold, I actually put the heat up to 65(I never have it that high)because even though I'm dressed in wool today, I'm still cold. I haven't gotten anything done today at all and am going to snuggle under a quilt and read.
Hope you have a great afternoon.
    Hugs, Noreen

  6. We've had gray here all day too - - - with just a tiny miniscule flake in the air from time to time.

    NOT satisfactory at all.

You and I need to be neighbors, we think alike!

  7. Bring everything to my house and we can factor in the beach just fine! :)

  8. We've had so much wet, nasty weather the past week but today was just gorgeous. It was very cold, but sunny. But, tomorrow brings more rain and cold. Yuck! I've been cleaning out closets and drawers and getting all kinds of organizing done.

Love the colors of your quilt.

  9. Beautiful! Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

    The that sounds wonderful!

  10. It's been gray here for what seems like forever...nothing new, though. I heard somewhere that we have 220+ cloudy days a year which puts us ahead of Seattle. :/

Love the quilt squares...the colors are pretty in either picture.

  11. Hi Kathy,
I always love dropping by to see your beautiful quilting jobs.
I hope your Christmas holiday was beautiful.

    God bless you and yours!

  12. Those kind of days seem perfect for me. I don't mind gloom and rain as long as I don't have to venture out. Hope you had a nice Christmas

  13. Oh, I could give you some snow! I am not a fan. In Minnesota it stays around for months and months AND stays gray. Blah.
Your next quilt project is looking pretty! My sister did a Disappearing 9 Patch. I haven't tried anything like that.
My next project is a baby quilt for my nephew's baby coming the end of January. I want to make this a zig-zag or chevron. The mama loves that design.

  14. We are having gray days mixed in with some sunny ones. Today is windy and cold is moving back our way. No snow.....but I'm not sad about that! Love your quilt!

    Happy New Year, Froend!

I am SO glad you stopped by! No proving that you're a robot here ... I want to hear what you have to say! ;-)
