Friday’s Miscellaneous Musings

After an unseasonably cool (but delightful) start to our summer, the summer-like weather has returned … with a vengeance.  Still I was hopeful that we’d be spared the 100+ degree weather … but yesterday we broke that barrier … in fact, our little village recorded the highest temperature in the St. Louis Metro area yesterday.  Here’s a screen print I captured yesterday:

I didn’t get in any time in the sewing room yesterday, and I have to say that I’m not the least bit sorry Winking smile … after DD got off work, we ended up going to the pool … a perfect day for some pool time (see above).  By the time I got home, it was too late and I was too tired (albeit a good tired Red heart).

I’m not sure that I’m going to get much sewing time today.  My neighbor told me about a quilt shop in a small town about 35 minutes north, so we’re going to go check it out.  DH and I will be going out for dinner with her and her husband this evening, so there might be a very brief window of time for working on that storm at sea top this afternoon.

We don’t have anything special planned this weekend … and I have to say that I’m looking forward to that!  Now that I’m “working” again – ha! – I could use a bit of a break.  DH and I talked briefly about getting away – anywhere – this weekend, but since we’re now just 2 weeks from our trip to Hilton Head (woo hoo!), we decided to make this weekend a staycation instead.

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday … and a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

  1. Good morning! We have a pretty mild summer so far too, an especially nice treat for August, but we have had a couple of HOT days this week too. Yesterday hit 103!! Just downright horrid out. Still grateful that we haven't had a lot of heat. And I want to go to the quilting store too!! haha Enjoy that it sounds good! Rest up and enjoy your L O N G week-end! My day today is super busy, but nothing much else planned!

  3. Wish your weather would break. Denver has the same heat. Most schools are out today or getting out at noon. On TV, I enjoyed seeing the teachers with spray bottles - misting kids with water! Here in the mountains the temps are great. Enjoy the weekend! ~Jeanne

  9. Sometimes a "staycation" is the best for sure. And, I know you hear Hilton Head calling your name. What a lovely, lovely place for sure.

Enjoy the weekend and perhaps you will steal some minutes to enjoy working on your quilt. :0)

  10. Hi there, Your weather sounds just like ours-maybe a smidge higher. I was hoping to get out to weed but it is just too hot-maybe later. I'm trying to catch up here and then will be holding a needle and thread. Have a wonderful evening my friend.
    Hugs, Noreen

  11. The weather men keep saying it is going to break the heat bubble soon. Or dome I know that has to be miserable. I do hope you have a very nice weekend.
    It sounds so nice.

  13. How nice to have Hilton Head on the horizon! As many years as hubby and I lived in NC, we never went there on vacation. I told him the other day we need to put in on our bucket list :*) I don't think we've hit 100 yet this summer - a huge change from the record-breaking temps last summer!!!

  14. We've been feeling like Florida for a week now. Hot and very humid which is rare for us. Hope your weekend was perfect!

  15. Thursday was a hot day here, too, but we didn't reach 100, thank goodness!

Thanks for the input about the washer. I've been reading all kinds of reviews, and everyone talks about how loud the newer machines are--and how long they take to do a load of laundry!
