Once again, Joyce has come up with some thought-provoking questions ... this week's questions really made me think. If you'd like to see how others answered this week's questions or to play long, just click on the button above.
1. Your favorite chocolate treat?
I can take or leave chocolate, but I do like Turtles.

2. What more than anything else makes you feel loved?
It's the little things that make me feel cherished ... like DH bringing me another Diet Coke without being asked or starting dinner when I'm in the middle of working on a quilt.

4. What is the one trait you most want the leader of your country to possess?
Courage - to do the right thing, even if it's not the popular thing.

5. Are you a saver or a spender?
If I'm going to be honest, I'm a spender. :-( But I've been working on changing that ... and while I'm not where I want to be yet, I'm certainly doing much better. I used to think about changing my spending habits, but being retired with a fixed nest egg has forced me to stop thinking and start doing.

6. If you gave a party for all of your friends would they already know each other?
No.
No.
7. Are you interested in antiques?
No, not really. With 2 large dogs, a DH, and 4 grands, our furniture gets used - and used quite well. ha! I'd rather have furniture that I don't have to worry about someone breaking or scratching (with their Matchbox cars or Legos).

8. Insert your own random thought here.
After two days of the 2 littles here, the house sure is quiet. I miss T#3 asking me to play cars with him, the sound of him revving his engine, or crying out "breakdown Chugger comin' frough-oooo" (he's still having a little trouble pronouncing "th" ... still comes out as "f"). I miss T#4's little toddler feet patting the floor as she walks down the hall and her holding her little arms out wanting to be picked up/held.

I'm enjoying all the 'antiques' answers today-such a wide spectrum in how people define them and take/leave them. We have some antiques but we definitely use them. I want to live in my house but I know what you mean. Ours mostly have sentimental value because many were bought on lovely spring days spent with friends in tiny English villages. When I see the piece I smile at the memory.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
Oh, #8. We haven't had the grands here since Christmas and I'm starting to have withdrawals. I see a road trip in our very near future.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine the joy of being a grandparent. I read stories such as yours and look forward to when it's my turn (several years from now, though)!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I kind of had to chuckle this morning. After writing all of that wonderful stuff about my son, we had a blowout argument this morning, and he went to school very angry. I guess I am chuckling at the irony of it. I think it's best if I don't talk about the good stuff sometimes so I don't jinx it!! Ugh.
I like Turtles too, but I'm afraid they will pull out my antique fillings! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun answers. Those grandkids are special! Thought I was going to see mine this month, but weather prevented it, so we will go down next month.
ReplyDeleteuntil next time... nel
I like Turtles too, in fact my daughter's youth group just made and sold them. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteTurtles are among my favorite candies. I haven't had any in a while...
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you really enjoyed having those "grands" around :-)
I bet you do miss having the little ones around. It would be really easy to get used to having them there. It's amazing how quiet a house can sound :-(
ReplyDeleteI love turtles also.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine little's are awesome to have around.
We have a full time live in 6 year old granddaughter (long story) and it is worth everything it has cost us in emotion, time, money, etc. when she reaches across the bunk bed rail to give me a sleepy hug and says she's glad we kept her! :)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, a leader with courage is a good trait to have! lucky you not being super fond of chocolate, it is my downfall a lot!!
ReplyDeleteI bet the house would be quiet after the grands being there, betting all did have a great time together though!
betty
I agree, with #4. Courage is a good trait. So glad you had a good time with the grand kids. That is such a great time.
ReplyDeleteHow precious to have grandchildren. I can't wait. Well, since I only have teens I won't rush it. lol But you make it sound so wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteLike your answer to #2-doing things without being asked-yes that's a great feeling. I have one step-grandson (2yrs.old) and he can really meake my day. He is rotten (has to be my daughters are 23 and 21 and away at college and they spoil him when in). I wish we could have grandchildren before children--wonder how we can do that?
ReplyDeleteGood answer for #4. Hard to do, but necessary.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers! Your description of your youngest grandchild makes me remember when my 2 kids were little ones. All chubby arms and cheeks and kisses and cuddles. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually looking forward to the day when my boys get married and have kids so I can play with them. Not anytime soon, mind you!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about his 'th' sound: they aren't suppose to be able to say that until around age 9, so I think he's got some time! :)
