Another weekend has come and gone, but this week I’ve got no complaints as that means that we are now just 3 days from heading to Hilton Head. Woo hoo!
My weekend got off to a great start … I started hand quilting my storm at sea quilt!
Saturday was a busy day … I spent the morning finalizing our trip plans, making hotel reservations for our stops along the way, and updating the maps on our GPS. I also cleaned the hardwood floors … they needed it badly, and I certainly wouldn’t be able to leave with them like that. I spent the afternoon quilting, but I spent my evening working on my next quilting project … a grandmother’s flower garden. Yes, I’m joining the hexie craze! And yes, I’m a little late to the party. But better late than never, right? I’ve always wanted a portable project, to take on our trips, etc. and I think this will fit the bill. I ordered hexagon papers and cut my fabric (I’m using leftover fabrics from other projects, mostly Kansas Troubles fabrics). I need to find some kind of portable storage container as I’m planning on taking this with me when we leave … I am hoping that I can work on it while we’re in the car, but if I can’t, I will have something to do at night in our hotel room. Thankfully someone from the Celebrate Hand Quilting Facebook group came to my rescue – again. I found just what will fit the bill … on sale at JoAnn’s. DH will be out running errands today and has graciously agreed to take a side trip to JoAnn’s … I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: he’s a keeper!
Sunday was a slower day. After church, I did a little more quilting and just took it easy … a nice way to end the weekend.
Have a marvelous Monday!
Good morning! Thanks for posting your stitching. I love it!! Soo even, pretty and perfect. Soo much of "you" in your quilts that way. I can see why you like doing it that way. I "might" try doing one that way just to see how I like it in comparison. Almost time for your trip...I'm excited for you! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteLet the countdown begin! I hope the weather is good for your upcoming vacation. So far, it's still very hot here, and we live only 2 hours away from HH Island :)
ReplyDeleteThe hexies will make a wonderful portable project.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilting on your quilt!
Sounds like you are about set to go! Glad you have some chores done and have the hexies about ready. Won't be long now! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI think your trip sounds wonderful and I think having your little project to work on is even better. I am so glad you have a trip planned and it is time for you to see the ocean. I know that is the best part. I hope your week flies by.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks wonderful, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteOh, have a wonderful trip--even if your floors don't get cleaned!! : )

I bet that Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt will be beautiful. I'm really in love with your Storm at Sea quilt. I'm so excited for you and your upcoming trip. We are on a countdown here but I don't get to go on this one. Mark is going to Europe on Thursday for 12 days. I'm a little jealous :(
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful trip, Hilton Head should be really nice this time of year. Doing beach days or golf?
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is GORGEOUS!!! So exciting to be in the final stages of planning for your trip! I'm so jealous! :)
ReplyDeleteNo time like the present.... better late than never... okay, enough with the cliches! I just got on the hexie bandwagon too - they're fun, aren't they? You'll enjoy having them to play with on your trip. Your hubby sounds a lot like mine - a definite keeper :*)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a great plan. Enjoy those hexies.... I'm going to be a really late joiner in January!. Love your stitches on your storm at sea.
