Three Days Behind

After being offline for just 1 day?  Crazy.  I had visions of spending all day in the sewing room, getting a bunch more blocks pieced together … but here it is, going on 10:30 and I’m still online.  I did get in my walk with Lois this morning, but the rest of my morning has been spent getting caught up.  As soon as I get my blog caught up, I can go sew … so let’s get this party started.  Ha!

I met the bus at a nearby shopping mall (about 30 minutes from here) at 6:30 and we were off … on our way to Paducah.  I could hardly hold in my excitement.  And the show didn’t disappoint!  There were so many breathtaking quilts!  Even the ones that weren’t to my taste were fantastic – the workmanship and time that went into all those beauties is unbelievable.  I took probably 80-100 pictures of the quilts (and there were plenty that “didn’t make the cut”).

And of course, I visited the vendor areas … and did my part to boost the local economy.photo

There were several commemorative T-shirts for sale, and of course I had to buy the one that had the hexies!  Ha!photo-001

I loved getting to chat with “quilting celebrities” and with show winners … I loved being inspired and motivated … I loved learning about new products and techniques.  I could have easily spent another day there as I didn’t have the time to visit any of the remote sites … not to mention taking a workshop or two.  It was a long and exhausting day, but I loved every minute of it.  Maybe next year I can find a way to make it at least a 2-day visit.  Winking smile

Time to go … my Kiss block pieces are calling me.  Have a great day, y’all!

Kathy

  4. I do so wish I could have went to Paducah this year - but maybe next year instead. Looks like you had fun wandering through the vendors it is always so hard to not go home without bags and bags of stuff.

  9. Can't tell you how fun this sounds! Looks like you got lots of goodies too. I can't wait to see some of those pictures. Quilting is horribly addicting I am finding out, lol. I have chosen my pattern and I am moving along OK for now. Not as hard as I thought in some ways, but it is slow and soo precise of work. I am excited to see it come together. It keeps you pressing on huh? T-shirt is cute and suits you perfectly! Hope you get lots of sewing done. Heading back to my machine now too! HAPPY SEWING!

  10. What a great trip! I'm so glad you got to go, even if it wasn't long enough. Your treasures look exciting! I hope you found time to sew eventually today. It's dreary here and I've spent a little time in the sewing room. ~Jeanne

  14. So glad you had a good time at Paducah!!! You really do need to give it a couple days, but that has to be planned well in advance in order to get affordable accommodations. Try to find a couple people to go with too to cut down on expenses :) Looks like you got some wonderful new tools and patterns - looking for new and exciting stuff from your sewing room soon *smiles*

  15. Well, what fun! I love looking at quilts and our local museum has had several quilt shows and I always go. And, I am so thankful for the hand made quilts that I have from my paternal Grandmother.

  18. Was it your first time at Paducah? I have never been there, but it is on my list. How nice that you could rest on the bus.

  19. Hey, I've always wanted to go to the show; the closest I came was PIQS and Road to California. Such fun but you need to spend more than one day there. Looks like we are both supporting local economies.
Have a great weekend my friend.
