Home is sweet … the weather not so much. But our favorite people are here, and now so are we.
We got home around noon yesterday … we unpacked the car, and I unpacked the luggage and started the laundry while DH went to the store to bring home fixings for lunch. I finished the laundry by dinner … I guess I should fold it and get it put away, eh?
We’ve got some T-time coming up today. Perfect timing! And if that’s not enough, we’ve got a swim meet this weekend … a pretty important meet. It’s the USA Swim A Championships for the Ozark region. It’s a meet that swimmers must swim a set time (or better) to qualify for … the qualifying times are based on the swimmer’s age and gender. The times are fluid, changing from year to year to meet the following criteria (click on the picture for a larger view):
T#1 made A time for 7 different events … and is seeded 6th for his 50 fly (his strongest event). So hopefully he’ll qualify for the finals in that event (top 8 swimmers in the preliminary events will advance to finals) … and maybe a few more if he has a strong outing. T#2 has qualified for several BB events … the championships will be held at the end of February.
Does thawing the turkey stress anyone else out like it does me? I worry about buying it soon enough so that there’s enough time to completely thaw the bird and I worry about buying it too soon so that it sits in the fridge unthawed for too long. Argh!
The day before we left for “paradise”, I tried to print something from my new laptop … it wouldn’t print. I tried everything I could think of … trying to print from DH’s laptop, trying to print from our iPads, rebooting the printer, rebooting the devices, rebooting the wireless router, reinstalling the printer software. While we were gone, I researched wireless all-in-one printers and had chosen a highly-rated one that was on sale at a good price. We were all set to run to Best Buy to buy it this morning when I decided to give our current printer one last chance … and of course, it works just fine! I don’t have a clue what was going on with it before, but I won’t complain about saving a few $$.
I hope that whatever you have planned for today includes a little something that brings you joy! Have a great day!
Kathy
Printers seem to know when you are 'done' with their antics and suddenly start working again! Just think more $ for fabric =). Glad you are home safe and sound. Enjoy your T time.
ReplyDeleteGood morning and welcome back! So glad you got to go to Paradise for a while...that sounds so good to me about now, lol. Congrats to T#1! How exciting to have qualified for so much. He was must be quite the swimmer. Been busy over here to the point of somewhat silly, lol, but I am taking the day off. A little shopping and lunch with my sister today, followed by hair cuts for my grandsons, and then a movie and some popcorn. Looking forward to it all. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Home! The second day home is the best - after the unpacking, laundry,... Glad your printer is working again - they are so finicky! Enjoy the T's and the meet this weekend. We are headed north today for Ray's 6 mo cancer check and this weekend will be at hockey games - brrr. ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! I love to travel, but I love to come home. Have fun with the T's today!
ReplyDeletemy printer is acting up all the time now - I have to reboot the computer and turn the printer off and on every time I want to use it!! I do not know why it is doing this very frustrating. I don't use the printer every day but it gets annoying
ReplyDeleteYes, on the turkey thing. Actually, I buy mine plenty early, but when to get it out of the freezer for thawing is always an issue. I often end up doing the cold water bath thaw method the day before because it is still frozen even though it has been in the fridge for days!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! Enjoy your T time. I'm sure you missed them.
ReplyDeleteSee? Being a vegetarian has its benefits. No turkey thawing worries :)
ReplyDeleteOh, that part of vacation when you get home and have to do all the laundry! Not my favorite part!
ReplyDeleteGlad you get to have T time! That's always fun! Hope they get the swimming spots they want.
Thankfully, we all bring something to our huge family Thanksgiving and I don't do the turkey! Smile!
I thought I was the only one who stressed about the frozen turkey! This year we have 11 people for dinner, so I'm thinking a great big turkey, plus an additional turkey breast. And I'm planning to double most of the side dishes.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! Hope you got those clothes folded. :o))
ReplyDeleteYes, the whole turkey ordeal stresses me too.
Enjoy your weekend!
Welcome home! Our printer does weird things like that. I fought with it last night for an hour. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had such a nice trip and a safe trip home.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you never missed a beat once you walked through the door.
Have a lovely weekend. Yes, I do worry about that turkey way to much.
Yay! There IS no place like home and it sounds like you have plenty on tap to keep you busy.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! Hope the swimming went well. We celebrated early this year and got a fresh turkey at Costco for our Saturday meal. I don't usually stress over thawing it. I have a wireless printer that I love but getting it set up with a new computer with Windows 8 was not fun! Happy Thanksgiving....
