Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. The first day of spring is here...do you enjoy working in the yard? Weeding, raking, mowing, planting-your favorite springtime garden chore? How about your least favorite?

Mowing is my favorite … I like the immediate gratification of a freshly-mown lawn.  And it doesn’t hurt that our mower has the “personal pace” feature (Personal Pace® self propel system automatically adjusts to your walking speed).  I guess I would choose raking as my least favorite.

2. What puts a spring in your step?

Getting to spend some time with my Ts, getting ready to leave on a trip, walking out onto the beach.

3. Describe a time when you had to spring into action?

When we had a fireplace fire (not in the flue, but in the framing for the flue … the builder incorrectly installed the flue, allowing heat to escape, heating up the wood framework so much that after a time, the wood finally caught on fire).  I have to admit that my first reaction was one of shock and disbelief … it wasn’t until DD sprung into action that I could get my wits about me and call 9-1-1 and help get our animals out of the house.

4. We're having carrots for dinner...would you prefer yours raw or cooked?

Cooked … and if you’re going to cook them, why not add a little bit of glaze?

5. Do you take the shampoos and other sundries from your hotel room when its time to check out?

No.  Since we travel by car, I can take my regular, full-sized shampoo.  No need for anything travel-sized.  Winking smile

6. What's the most enjoyable team or club you've belonged to and what was it that made it so?

I belong to a quilt guild, and I enjoyed it because the guild offers workshops, where I can learn additional skills.  I enjoy being able to share experiences and advice with other quilters … and am inspired when I see their handiwork.

7. Is cloning a sign of progress?

Not in my mind.  Cloning is an attempt to circumvent the natural order of things, as set into motion by our God.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

For the last week, I’ve been having trouble falling asleep at night, but once I fall asleep, I was able to sleep well.  Last night I fell asleep quickly enough, but was awake at 3:00 and could not fall back to sleep.  What is up with this?  Confused smile

  3. UGH... insomnia.. can mess a day up! Know what I heard on Dr. Oz? Eat a teaspoon of almond butter before you go to bed - it helps regulate your blood sugar helping you sleep. If anything, its a good excuse to eat a teaspoon of almond butter :)

  4. Good morning! Fun post. I am hoping to do one later but I don't know...such a busy week. Nothing bugs me more than my sleeping routine messed up, haha. Most of the time I fall asleep in seconds and stay that way all night, but everyone once in a while when I don't, it is sooo frustrating. Hope your back to normal quickly. Have a good day!

  5. So glad you got the animals out! I grew up with an old coal stove and had a woodstove myself - was always very conscious of the possibility of a fire.

  6. Are you excited about your trip? I always wake up and stay awake when I am getting ready to go somewhere. I had a friend whose fireplace did the same thing. That is so scary. I liked your answers today.
I hope your day is nice and warm. :)

  7. Oh my goodness, fires scare me, the whole idea of how unpredictable they are (well to me at least).

Good luck getting your sleep back on schedule.

  8. Your whole fire incident sounds like a scary time!

I hate not being able to sleep! I've been having a few of those nights myself. I attribute it to the time change.

  9. Having the same sleep problems-co workers and I were discussing this earlier. We blame it on the time change and weather!

  10. The fire is pretty scary. I'm not a good sleeper. I think that's why I can read so many books!

  12. Hi there, Again I love these questions and your answers. I wish we were neighbors so I could go to quilt guild meetings with you. I used to belong to a very large guild in Ca.(200+) but it got political and I stopped. Have never found one here in Co. Have a great evening.
    Hugs, Noreen

  14. #8....I'd blame it on the time change?!!! LOL

As for your fire in the flue....oh my gosh, that would scare me to death, I wouldn't ever have a fire again in the fireplace!!! And you can't beat grandchildren to put spring in your step.

    PS...beautiful background on your template!!!

  16. Well....since you have no new blog post to comment on, I wanted to stop by again and post another PSS this time...

How long are you gonna be on vacation? Hope the weather cooperates and you CAN enjoy the sand between your toes. Nothing better if you want my opinion...in fact, I think I'll get to the beach again today.
