Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Ok, I told you all that yesterday was going to be a lazy day here at Chez Nana.  I should have clarified … lazy in the sense that I was going to do whatever I wanted … and if you’ve been following very long, you will know that means quilting.  I got the I Spy quilt completely quilted … it’s ready for binding and gift-giving.  I was really beginning to wonder if I’d have it done in time for Christmas … and I finished with time to spare.  Whew!  I’ll try to get a picture today after it’s been bound and washed/dried … but we’ve got rain in the forecast, so the weather conditions may not be conducive to getting a picture.  But I promise to get a picture before I give it away.

For the second night in a row, I could NOT fall asleep.  Wednesday night, I tossed and turned until midnight.  Last night, I didn’t even toss and turn … I got up and spent some time on the laptop, getting caught up on emails and blog.  It was after 2:00 before I finally fell asleep.  I was sure that I’d fall asleep easily last night as I was pretty tired from not enough sleep Wednesday night.  Hoping I’ll be tired enough to fall asleep easily tonight!

I didn’t even think about going outside to see the meteor shower.  Sad smile

Because I’m still so very tired, it’s going to be another lazy day here at Chez Nana today.  I do intend to put the binding on the I Spy quilt, and I hope to do a little more piecing on the disappearing four patch wall quilt … but I may just take it easy, just do a little reading.  DH and I have been talking about seeing Lincoln … not sure that I have enough energy to get all gussied up to go out … and I’m worried that I might fall asleep in that dark theater!  Laughing out loud

A couple of months ago, I finished a wall quilt for our bedroom.  I’ve been searching since then for a wall rack for hanging the quilt … and I was not coming up with anything that was going to work.  I was beginning to despair that I would ever get the quilt hung.  Then last night, during my bout with insomnia, I found this tutorial on how to hang a quilt.  Ding ding ding!!!  We have a winner!!!  Not only is it simple, but there won’t be anything to detract from the quilt, and it’s easy peasy.  And best of all, it isn’t going to set me back a pretty penny!    If I had any energy at all, I’d be doing the happy dance.   Winking smile

  3. I like lazy days!! My husband isn't sleeping much either. I wonder why that happens? He said, it is because he gets so excited about people opening presents that he can't sleep. Maybe you are excited too.
I can't wait to see your quilt.
I need to make my soon to be SIL a stocking.
I hope you get rested. I am so sorry you are so tired but I know what that feels like. Me today. :)
    Have a very nice weekend,

  4. sleep? what's that? I'm wide awake at 2a.m. and finally just get so perturbed, I get up for the day.

Anyway, NCIS is on winter break...the hiatus until the Spring Ratings in March. I miss it.

  8. Our definitions of lazy are very, very different!
Do you think it's the cold medicine that's keeping you awake?

  9. Oh, I love lazy days of doing whatever you want and I do have those quite often.

Isn't it amazing what we can find on the internet. Glad you found a way to hang your quilt that pleases you.

  11. Not sleeping is a terrible thing! I can relate as I've been an insomniac for years! I do take something to sleep now so I get a little more shut eye .....but I have nightmares which wake me up!

Yay on getting the quilt finished. I am with the girl who said she envied you having the ability to sew a button! That is me!

    Get some sleep!

  12. I'm a night person so I don't even think about sleep until after 11. Going to bed at 1 AM occasionally. I went out two night around midnight one was very clear the other not much - saw meteors both nights but only two on the cloudier night. The cold sent me back in too.
