What-Not on a Wednesday Morning

I can waste spend a lot of time on Facebook, if I’m not careful … between getting caught up with family and friends and enjoying the eye candy on Celebrating Handquilting group.  I do get a chuckle and some inspiration from some of the pictures and videos posted and stole borrowed a few to share with you all today.

Cleaning

Exercise

Yesterday and Today

I got a few hours in the sewing room yesterday … but I didn’t get as much done as I was hoping, thanks to having to repair this:photo 1

All 8 blocks were sewn together incorrectly.  Sad smile  Here’s a block after I unsewed and resewed:photo 2Strip piecing log cabin blocks is rather mindless … maybe a little too mindless?  Winking smile  Squaring up after each strip helps ensure accurately sized blocks, but it won’t guarantee accurately pieced blocks.  ha!  Hopefully I’ll get these 8 blocks done this morning and can lay them out on my design floor to get an idea of the spiral effect.

Hope that whatever you have planned today includes a little something that brings you joy.  Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Kathy

  3. Here I was thinking I should do some house cleaning today! lol Your blocks are looking good! Glad you caught your mistake before you sewed a lot more. How does that happen? I have the pieces matched up and I sew and some where along the line I have turned them and sewn the wrong sides together?

  4. Oops! At least you caught your mistake early!
I was supposed to babysit, today, but the plans changed so I'm just spending the day doing nothing :)
Loved your little 'funnies' from Facebook :)

  5. Oh oh! Glad you found the problem after 8 blocks instead of 80! Loved your funnies - guess I can stop cleaning house now too! Hope you have the 8 blocks corrected and that your day is going well. ~Jeanne

  6. Good catch! I was thinking of cleaning the house today but am glad I didn't - that first quote is priceless! One hour cutting in the sewing room - a long walk and catching up on a week of newspapers. A trip to the veggie stand and garbage and recycle.... then it was time to get the kids. Tomorrow - sewing!

  7. That's funny that is mindless to you when I don't even know how to turn my sewing machine on :)

  8. Yep, something that can be done so easily. I was piecing my backing this am and had the seams on opposite sides of the back. Luckily I had plenty of width and the rotary cutter sliced off the bad seam. LOL Looking forward to seeing your log cabin come together.

  9. Well I agree with the others, at least you caught it early! But oh how I hate ripping. I am getting ready to post a story on how I cut apart some of my hour glass blocks and made up my own! lol Now it might look like it to some experienced quilters, but considering this quilt is for me I am simply going with what I like. I did create LOTS more work for myself but I think I am going to be happier. Hope the rest of your day was productive and fun.

  11. Hi, I've been busy all day packing for our get away, but now sitting down to stitch. I was so hoping I'd be further along with the quilting but not so. I can waste hours in blogland, not so much on FB. Hope you have a great Thursday.
    Hugs, Noreen

  12. Oh, how aggravating! I just don't think I would have the patience. :o)) And, my eyes would be crossed with all the stitching I'm sure, but it looks like such fun.

    Loved the chuckles!

  15. Red, white and blue is my favorite color combination of all time. Our wedding colors were that... 39 years ago! Can't wait to see this log cabin, it will be gorgeous!
