Welcome to the Weekend

Voting is now open for the Fall 2014 edition of the Blogger’s Quilt Festival.  If you’re so inclined to vote for my chevron quilt (no pressure … I have no expectations nor do I have any way of knowing who votes for my quilt), just click here.  And don’t forget that there are plenty of beautiful quilts in the other categories, too.

I started quilting the borders on T#1’s spiral log cabin quilt last night (in between answering the door to dole out candy to the trick or treaters).   IMG_0963Since I’m sticking with the straight line quilting, I’m hoping that it won’t take too long to quilt those borders … maybe I can get this finished up before we head to “paradise”.

DH and I will be celebrating a milestone anniversary in 2017 and are starting to plan something special to celebrate that … we’re thinking about an Alaskan cruise/tour.  If any of you have taken one, can you please share your experiences/recommendations … you can share in your comment or send me an email

Don’t forget to turn back your clocks tonight … we get an extra hour to sleep … or in my case, to quilt (I’ve reached the age where my body has determined just how long I can sleep Winking smile).

I hope that whatever you have planned for today includes a little something that brings you joy! Have a great day!
Kathy

  1. we took an Alaskan cruise about 10 years ago and loved it. It was chilly the week we were gone and temps didn't get above 55 the whole week it was windy and blustery on board for walks around the deck - I have heard others say they had perfect weather - bring something warm to wear on deck in case. (we were gone week of July 4) The cruise for dinner wasn't near as dressy as some cruises are which was good for us as I didn't want to buy a lot of dressy things I would never use again. Some black skirts/pants with change out tops and jewelry worked for me. We loved it and would do it again

  2. I have heard that the Alaskan cruise is beautiful, but have not taken one yet. We are waiting for our 50th in a few years for it.

  3. YAY on the extra hour of sleep!! lol Other then that time changes always frustrate me while I try to re-adjust. I have a feeling I will be ready for bed by 8:30 or 9 rather then 9:30 or 10 for a while, lol. I am off to vote for your quilt now....Enjoy your day!

  4. We've done a few cruises, including Alaska, and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. If you go to Alaska, be sure to book a tour to a glacier, they are most fascinating! Tried to vote at the Quilt Festival and couldn't figure it out - will have to go back again and see what's going on.

  5. What a nice thing to be planning. I like that. Your quilt is lovely. I will be going to that place to vote.
Yes, I am always torn about the time change. Trying to stay up that hour is so hard,
Not to mention the getting dark earlier.
But sleeping in is just great.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

  8. Will definitely go and vote for your quilt. I was just packing up all my quilts today for the move. I have them all on display on a quilt rack and my paternal Grandmother made all of them.

Well, you know we loved our Alaskan Cruise. WE went in Aug. on the Inside Passage and the weather was so nice and it was towards the end of cruising season for Alaska. We went with Celebrity Cruise line but would go with a smaller cruise line next time, such as Holland America. WE like the smaller cruise lines, not so many people. Ours was a 7 day cruise.
