Fun Times in the Sewing Room

I decided to head on over to the quilt shop yesterday morning.  Of course, I came home with more than just the white I went for ... I didn't get a photo of my haul ... I'll share a picture next time.

I was able to quickly piece two blocks.

Just about the time I thought this quilt would come together quickly and easily, block 3 gave me a lesson in humility. I had to unstitch and restitch the final seam twice before I could get the pieces to line up satisfactorily. I had just enough time to give the block a nice press before DH brought dinner in from the grill.  Oops!

Obviously I correctly pieced the right half ... but reverted to the color layout of blocks 2 and 3 when piecing the left half. :-o

Hopefully I'll be a little more alert tomorrow when I head back into the sewing room.

Here's my inspiration quilt:
I wish I could cite the source for this image.  I pinned this quite a while ago but the previous pinner pinned to the image rather than the original website ... I didn't realize it until just now when I wanted to give proper credit.  Don't you just love the secondary design created?

hope that whatever you have planned for today includes a little something that brings you joy ... have a great day!
Kathy

  1. Ohhhh, I love blue and white too. This is going to be gorgeous! Are you using a special template to cut pieces? Hopefully you got the oops out of the way early and the rest will be smooth sailing. ~Jeanne

  4. I am loving everything about this! The fabric choices and colors, and that pattern...I am curious how that block goes together. Most of the time anymore I can see how the pattern works, but not this one, lol. Don't we all hate those oops moments, lol. Have a good week-end Kathy!

  5. It is definitely a winner, Kathy! Beautiful!!
Haven't we all made blocks like that at one time or another? For me it is more times than I would care to admit.
Seriously, you brought home more from the fabric store than you had planned to buy? How in the world did that happen?!? *LOL*

  8. Winding Ways is one of my favorite patterns. It has another name, but I can't think of it now. I am glad you finally made it to the quilt store in order to get your fabric fix.

  12. I hate it when that happens, which it just does, let's be honest! That is going to be one gorgeous quilt. I really like the fabrics you're showing going into it. I've been wanting to make one of these for a while now but it is FAR down the list.
