It's Going to Be a Marvelous Monday!

But then, every day is marvelous!  Seriously, today is going to be a marvelous day.  While we've got rain in the forecast, there should be a break in the storms that'll allow me to get out and walk. And while it is raining?  A perfect "excuse" to get into the sewing room and sew.

Speaking of sewing, I got the sashings cut and sewn into sashing/cornerstone rows and got the first row of blocks finished yesterday. And I am so thrilled with how they turned out!
I wish I could take credit for the choice of black sashing, but I have to credit the clerk at Homestead Hearth who helped me when we visited there, looking for sashing fabric. I didn't have a clue what color to choose ... it was a bit of a leap of faith to agree to her selections, but I'm so glad that I did. I'm hoping to get the rest of the top finished today, but that's pretty optimistic. There's no reason, though, why I cannot get it done before my one-day retreat on Friday.  And I'm already thinking about what to work on next. ;-)   And thanks to Jeanne, I now have a "design wall" ... no more design floor. I ordered  a Fons and Porter design sheet ... I just need to ask DH to get out the ladder and get some nails hammered in the wall space above my closet door (which will be perfect for providing some solid for the sheet to rest against when I'm using it).

My Blues play tonight ... and my little Blues garden flag arrived in the mail this morning.  Perfect timing! Here's to hoping that I'll be able to keep it hanging for several more weeks!  :-D.

Tomorrow is my 6-week post-surgery follow up and Chemo #4. I noticed last night that my eyelashes have started to grow back in.  Since I lost them several weeks into my first chemo, I'm guessing I'll lose them again.  And thank you, everyone, for bearing with me on my PSA yesterday. As Janet O. said, when we or a loved one is suffering from a serious disease, we tend to be passionate about it ... so I'm very passionate about ovarian cancer. I pray that at the least a diagnostic tool will be found, but I'm really praying for a cure, too.  But rest assured, I don't intend for this blog to become a stage for endless PSAs.  ;-)

Time to wrap this up and head to my sewing room!  I hope that whatever you have planned for today includes a little something that brings you joy ... have a great day!
Kathy

  1. how many chemo treatments will you need? I guess it will take awhile for all the hair to grow back - I hadn't thought of eye lashes!

  5. It's soo good to see you busy again with your quilting. I LOVE this one, and your right the black sashing and mustard cornerstones are just PERFECT. I missed your post yesterday so I went back and read it and I say PREACH it every chance you get. Awareness is always good as is early detection of course. I never understood before I had it just how important and key early detection is and I now I encourage everyone I know NOT to neglect their yearly testing and little symptoms and signs. Mine was NOT detected in a mammogram either so there's where paying attention to other signs becomes sooo important. Hope you have a good week. I have about 1/2 of my quilt for Mel done. I will try to post tomorrow or the next day with pics. Still praying....

  6. Kathy, it's so nice to see you back quilting again, and even doing more posts on line! As always, your quilts are beautiful.
I'm so happy you had a nice Mother's Day, too.

Don't ever apologize for spreading the word about anything related to ovarian cancer, or any cancer, for that matter! People need to know these things. Preach on!

I love your new flag, and hope your team continues to do well.
Take care. You're still in my prayers.

  7. Your quilt top is simply beautiful! Black sashing is so effective for many quilts, but this one especially sings a happy song. So glad you are making amazing progress with your treatments, and you never need to apologize for preaching the word about early detection and finding cures for these horrible diseases. We're in your corner because so many of us have already been there or know someone who is going through it right now.

  8. You are right - every day is marvelous! Praying for a great day tomorrow for you too. Anxious to know how your design wall works. I've read that some people are hanging them with 3M hooks. It's fine with me that you spread the word about ovarian cancer - we all need to be aware! ~Jeanne
