Simple Woman’s Daybook

The Wednesday Hodgepodge is on Spring Break this week, so I think this is the perfect time to open a page from the Simple Woman’s Daybook.

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...  the skies are blue, the sun is shining … and it’s cold.  Thankfully it’ll warm up, but our temperatures will still be below normal.  If we can just hold on for a few days, we should have some delightful weather

I am thinking...  I sure can’t wait for those warmer temperatures … I’m antsy to get outside.

I am thankful...  for a hubby who not only tolerates my quilting but actually encourages it

In the kitchen...
a couple of stacks of dishes … some clean ones waiting to be put away, and some dirty ones waiting for the dishwasher to be emptied

I am wearing...  jeans, long-sleeved t-shirt and sweatshirt … it’s still cold here, remember Winking smile

I am creating...  I’m still working on a couple of quilting projects … I’m still hand quilting T#2’s quilt, and I’m making a miniature pineapple wall quilt

I am going...  to get back to work on those miniature pineapple blocks … my goal was to do one a week, but with family in from out of town last week, I didn’t get a block sewn together last week

I am wondering...
what to prepare for dinner this evening … maybe, since it’s actually starting to get a little warmer, we should “celebrate” by fixing something on the grill

I am reading...
I Shall Not Want by Debbie Viguie … book 2 of the Psalm 23 mysteries … it’s a light read, but since reading is taking a back burner these days, I need something that I can pick up and read a few pages now and then

I am hoping...  that DH and I haven’t bitten off more than we can chew … our village has a community garden, where residents can, for a small fee ($25), have the use of a 20’x40’ plot for their garden … the village will till the soil and provide water … we just have to tend the garden.  DH and I have been wanting to have a garden … but 20’x40’ is a much larger garden than we were thinking about  Surprised smile

I am looking forward to...  our trip to Disney in May … only 36 days away!

Around the house...  my dirty windows and blinds are taunting me, and I really need to just “get ‘er done”, but I’ve convinced myself that I should wait until it’s a little warmer before I have the windows open/work outside Winking smile

A favorite quote for today...  God loves you because of who He is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do ~ unknown

One of my favorite things...  ok, I know I shared this in my Weekend Wrap-up and I know this is four things, not just one, but these are my favorites:(as always, you can click on the picture for a larger version)

A few plans for the rest of the week:  This is a week where there’s not a whole lot going on, and I have to say that I’m really enjoying a more relaxed pace this week.  Since last week was busy with family in from out of town and next week looks to be another busy one, with not much opportunity for time with my needle and thread, I suspect that I will take advantage of a quiet week this week and get in a good bit of quilting and sewing

  4. You could always just use part of the plot. I would love to have that much garden all in one place and tilled, too! Have fun with it!

  5. I agree it sounds like kind of a big plot of land to garden, BUT! I am sure you will probably be glad you did. Just think of all those fresh veggies. Enjoy your sewing this week!

  7. Let's not talk about dirty windows... ;)

I wish we could grill...there's still ice on the patio around the grill. :p

My husband is the same way about my quilting. :)

  8. I bet you love your garden! You don't have to plant the whole space, do you? Put in some pumpkins - they take up lots of room! I, too, can't wait for warmer weather. With the snow melting and the sun shining, it is a shock every time I open the door and find it is still COLD! ~Jeanne

  9. what a nice size garden plot. What fun too.
Oh, I am feeling the same way about my blinds and windows. I keep thinking I will wait just a bit longer. I know as soon as I get them done we will have a dust storm.
I loved that quote. I am going to write it down.
It all sounds so nice, I am glad you have blue skies. I know it will be getting warmer soon.
I hope you get to quilt lots this week.

  10. I stopped planning meals during the week awhile ago but I will cook on the weekend. My husbands goes out for lunch with work so he like to make himself a salad for dinner. I'm sure that when he is retired I will have to make some daily plans again. Enjoy your week.

  11. Enjoyed your day book. All us Hodgepodgers had to use our own ideas today and I think we did well. :o)

Oh, Disney, are the T's going? We plan to take ours but probably not for another couple of years and their parents will go to. Not sure Hubby and I could stay up with them by ourselves. :o)

It's a slow week here too. I have the Princess today and then will pack and get things ready to leave tomorrow and Friday. We'll leave early Sat. for Savannah.

    Happy day!
