I'm continuing to make good progress on T#1's spiral log cabin quilt. I'm close to having quilted three out of the four outer edges (blocks) ... one more side and then the borders. I'm hoping to be able to gift this quilt before we leave for "paradise".
I was able to restitch that third wreath ornament.
Am I the only one who likes to rearrange furniture periodically? I love how it gives a fresh perspective on a room and how it makes the room feel brand new. Alas, with an open floor plan (and lots of 6' windows), we don't have a lot of options for furniture placement. With large closets and more 6' windows, I can't even rearrange furniture in the bedrooms.
I shared my fall color photos a little too early ... the colors are even more vivid now than they were a couple of days ago. On the local news tonight, the weather woman reported that the fall colors are at their peak right now.
2014 seems to be a good year for eclipses. There's a solar eclipse this afternoon ... here in SW Illinois, it'll be a partial eclipse. Here's a website to determine when and how much of an eclipse you'll see in your part of the world. Don't forget to wear protective eyewear if you want to see it live ... I'll settle for news reports and pictures online. ;-) It's supposed to be too cloudy here tomorrow afternoon to see it anyway.
I don't know how much stitching I'll get done today ... we're leaving tomorrow morning for an out-of-town wedding, and I have plenty to do to get ready. I'll be taking my Martha Washington's Flower Garden hexies with me ... and I'm thinking that we should have time Saturday morning, before the wedding, to see a few sites (including a quilt shop or two).
Last night, as I was trying to fall asleep, I thought of a couple of things I wanted to mention in this totally random post ... I told myself that I should get up and at least write them down so I wouldn't forget them, but I was just so tired (only 3.5 hours of sleep the night before will do that - ha!). And of course, I cannot remember what I wanted to say. Grrrr I hate when that happens.
I hope that whatever you have planned for today includes a little something that brings you joy! Have a great day!
Kathy
I would love to change the furniture around a bit but it is very hard to do in my house because of windows, book shelves ect.
ReplyDeleteNeed we ask where you booked the condo at - somehow I think it will be by a beach!
Yippe for the condo - that will be great.
ReplyDeleteI'm on vacation next week - my goal? Learn how to get my sewing machine going!!! :)
I love your wreath ornaments you are making! So happy you and your hubby get to get away ... makes up for leaving early last time... the beach here is still wonderful then I am sure it will be up there as well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for random posts... I needed a fun post to read... loving your progress on that log cabin.. you are focused .. a weekend off will give your fingers time to rest .. only when not fondling fabric in quilt shops! Ha :) Kathi
I have never been one to change furniture around very often and in our new house, it will likely only go "one way" with all the openness.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun birthday, celebrating at the beach.
Have a great time at the wedding!
Yay! You are headed to paradise again! So glad you were able to book a condo. Don't you just hate when you can't remember something - happens to me way too much! I'm sure you'll recall and you can toll us then! Have a great weekend ~ Jeanne
ReplyDeleteMy living room floor plan is very open, too, and has two sets of huge sliding doors. I have only figured out 3 options, and DH only likes one of them. : (
ReplyDeleteOur bedroom is in a loft with sloping walls, and with the window and two closets, there is only one place we can put the bed.
I guess I can be grateful that I won't ever put my back out while moving furniture! : )
Enjoy your getaway!!
I am also limited on furniture placement. Two weeks at a lovely location is paradise. Glad you are able to go. Keep us posted on their weather. Enjoy your stitching projects.
ReplyDeleteI love changing furniture around too. Doesn't cost a thing to do that and always fun.
ReplyDeleteAnother week in 'paradise' sounds like a great way to celebrate hubby's birthday :)
ReplyDeleteWe have always loved to move furniture around; if it's sunday it must be moving furniture day at our house lol! My grandson says when he comes here, "What way do you have the tv room now?" Changing seasons seem to spark moving stuff for us...luckily my DH is good at hauling, cause I can't anymore--so, I just point and say"over there, please?" Hahaha...love those little wreath ornaments..would have never thought of that...hugs, Julierose
