Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

  • We finally got our passport applications turned in yesterday.  Sure hope I dotted all my Is and crossed all my Ts.  Winking smile

  • I was excited to see that we could get wi-fi in our stateroom on our ship … until I saw what they charged for it.  Surprised smile  No emailing updates to family and friends on this cruise!

  • I got to go to the zoo yesterday with DD and the Ts.  I just love the zoo … and even more with the Ts.  We got to see the baby elephant and baby lion … and hear the male lion roar.  I chatted briefly with another grandma who was leaving with her grands at the same time we were … she lives in Phoenix and was flying back home today.  My heart hurt for her at the thought of having to leave her loved ones and realized again how blessed I am to live so close to my DD and my Ts.  Red heart

  • We have been on a puzzle kick the last couple of weeks … finished another one last night.  We have one more new one (loaned to us by DD) … and then we’ll have to work one that we’ve done before.

  • I love the beauty and majesty of sunrises and sunsets … God makes such beautiful art at the start and end of the day.  I almost was too late to get a picture of today’s sunrise.

  1. We live close to our grand daughters but far from our grand sons. Thank God for Skype. So glad you got to go to the zoo and enoy all the baby animals.

  2. Beautiful sky photo!!! And ya, I can imagine the extra charges on a cruise ship. That's why I stay home anymore. LOLOLOL Oh, and how I LOVE going to the zoo. The closest one of any significant value and lots of great exhibits is in Brownsville, Texas. I love that zoo. One closer in Victoria, but that's in sad shape. How I envy you living in close proximity of a zoo.

Oh and I read your Wednesday Hodgepodge answers also. I too collect Santas...I have over 200 now, but I've, to much chagrin, have never heard of salt glazed....I would love to see some of your collection if you've ever posted about them...just steer me in the right direction.

  3. Zoos are so fun. I can't imagine what it would be like with grandchildren. Some day (but hopefully not too soon...haha).

    Beautiful sunset.

  4. I had to get a new passport in November and it came pretty quickly. My last one was full to the brim even with extra pages added. My new one is crying for a stamp but I'm working on it : )

  5. You are so right about the on board internet. Do go to your cell phone provider (ours was Verizon) and ask them if they can program (probably the wrong term) your phone for the US territories. I could text and call from St. Thomas and San Juan with no roaming fees then. Something to look into.

  7. Our cruise ship had a media center where there was free wi-fi. My daughter had temporary international coverage added to her smart phone. So we were well connected.

  9. Cyber-cafes are your friends on cruises. I typically write all of my messages, save them and then go on a mass sending spree when I hit a port.

  10. As soon as we get settled in our new house I am applying for mine and the husbs passports did not want a temporary address on it. Hopefully by the end of this month, I can do that. I envy you for being close to your grands. I keep trying to get mine to move closer but alas jobs, house and whatever else keeps them away. This is one of my constant prayers; someday it will happen. Atleast I am close to grands in spirit and love!

  12. Good morning Kathy,
I am just getting caught up after this crazy week. It made my heart break for a grandma having to leave her grands to go back home too. I am so thankful at this point mine live close too.
I would have liked to have seen a baby elephant and a baby lion. Not to mention hear a lion roar.
It sounds like a nice day. I hope you are feeling better today.
    Have a wonderful weekend,

  13. Sounds like things are falling into place for your cruise :) Funny that you mentioned the zoo, I just told my daughter-in-law that we need to take the "grands" to the zoo! It's been nearly 4 years since I've been.
