The Weekend Wrap-up
I know that it was a short week anyway, what with Monday being a holiday, but that was one. short. week!
The weekend got off to a pretty busy start ... I got my hair cut Friday morning, and on my way home, I stopped to do a little shoe shopping (buy one get one half off, so of course I bought a couple pairs). I also stopped to get my glasses adjusted (our vacation got off to a rather scary start when I stumbled on the porch when we checked into our rental house ... I slammed into the door, knocking off my glasses ... they were bent all out of shape. Thankfully I didn't end up with the shiner that we all expected, and I was able to twist my glasses back into shape ... at least good enough to see until we got back home and I could get them properly adjusted). I had plans to spend the rest of the day quilting, but I was only able to get in a couple of hours with needle and thread. We had to spend most of the evening in our basement ... we were under a tornado warning. There were three EF3 tornadoes that touched down within 45 miles of our little town (including one just 7-8 miles from our house), and there were straight-line winds that hit the nearby large town that left much of the town without electricity (some are still without power this morning) and caused some fairly significant damage.
By the time the rains moved out Saturday morning, we'd gotten 3 inches of rain - in 24 hours. Our garden is under water. :-( The rest of the day was dreary and chilly ... not much good for anything besides quilting ... and catching up on Season 10 NCIS ... with the start of the baseball season and the hockey playoffs in April and our trip in May, I hadn't had time to watch the last four episodes. While this season's finale wasn't quite as dramatic as last season's, it was suspenseful and I'm still anxious to see what happens next.
Sunday, after church, we "gambled" that in spite of the cooler weather and ominous clouds, it wasn't going to rain so we stopped at the local nursery and picked up mulch and flowers. While DH mowed, I spread mulch (I told DH that 6 bags wouldn't be enough - ha!) and planted flowers. That wore me out - which led to another excellent opportunity to do some more quilting on T#4's quilt after dinner.
