The Weekend Wrap-up

While this past week didn’t go quite as quickly as the week before, it still felt mighty short.  As is often the case, my plans for the weekend didn’t work out quite like I had planned … but since those changes in plans usually involve DD, I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Red heart

My Lazy Day Friday plans were to spend plenty of time with needle and thread … and instead of quilting, I spent the day at DD’s.  It’d been a good while since we had some time together, and after being together 24/7 for two weeks when we were in Florida, I was really missing her and my Ts.  Red heart

I did get to spend the evening quilting, while we watched the baseball game.

Saturday was the day for our annual neighborhood block party … and the weather was gorgeous … quite a contrast with last year’s weather when it was rainy and downright cold.  While the turnout wasn’t quite as large as we would have liked, we had a wonderful time visiting and catching up with our neighbors.  I took a tortellini-broccoli-bacon salad and an apple pie.  I love fruit pies – with LOTS of fruit, so I was quite proud of how high I piled the apples in my pie.  But look at how it collapsed after it cooled off.  Sad smile

photo (37)The good news is that it still tasted good.  Winking smile  I was able to get in a little quilting while we watched the baseball game.

After church on Sunday, we got a phone call inviting us to join DD and family for lunch.  The meal wasn’t anything fancy, but we sure enjoyed the time spent with our favorite people.  We wrapped the evening up with some play time at the new park in the small city where DD lives.

There’s nothing much on today’s schedule … maybe today will be the day I get to spend with needle and thread.  Winking smile

  1. I just finished catching up with you in your previous posts, so I'll comment here.

I hate having to choose new frames while my eyes are dilated, too! Why do they do that???

Gardening can be a challenge, can't it? We've gone from too dry to too wet. I don't know how this will play out in the end, but the weeds are going CRAZY!!!

We had lunch with our family yesterday, too. It just makes the food taste better to eat with family!

    Have a great week!

  6. Sounds like a most enjoyable weekend and the pie looks great in spite of falling. I've never made an apple pie, I always make cream pies. But, my Mom made the best apple pies.

    Have a great week!

  7. It's always disappointing when we make food to take somewhere and it doesn't quite turn out right! But, how it tastes is the most important thing...and I'm sure it was delish!

  9. Sometimes the pies that look the worst are the ones that taste the best :*) I bet yours was delicious - apple pie is my favorite!!! I think we really need a get-to-know-you party in my neighborhood. I don't know half my neighbors. Hope you found time finally for needle and thread :*)

  10. Hi, Kathy!
Yes, I'm still around! Your apple pie looks delicious! That's one of my favorite summertime desserts...with a little vanilla ice cream on the top, of course! :)

  11. Sounds like a great weekend. Of course, now I want apple pie! Looks like a great playground. Our's has been closed for construction for a few months. We keep checking daily for it to open - lots of new equipment, trails and fun things to do.
