This and That Thursday

I got another couple of pineapple blocks sewn yesterday … I’ve got a total of 10 completed and have started an 11th.  I pulled out my strips when I started this, but I’m thinking about digging through my stash to see if there are any larger pieces of other blues to use.  I’m hoping to get a couple more sewn together after lunch this afternoon.  I also did a little hand quilting while we watched the baseball game last night.

Right before our trip to Florida, I discovered a small knot on the arch of my foot.  I saw my doctor about it yesterday afternoon … the knot is some kind of cyst on the plantar fasciitis, and she referred me to a specialist.  I’ll make the appointment and see what he has to say … since the knot rarely causes any discomfort – and even then, not nearly enough to keep me from being able to do whatever I’d like, I’m not too inclined to do anything drastic if there won’t be any serious consequences to leaving it be (such as continued growth of the cyst, etc.).

On the way home from the doctor’s office, I stopped by the garden.  Remember the standing water I reported?  Thankfully it dried up quickly, so while I’m sure it wasn’t very good for the garden, hopefully it didn’t last long enough to kill off anything.  Everything is growing … just very, very slowly.  I did discover that 3-4 of our tomato plants have blossoms!  photo (63)Maybe we’ll have tomatoes at least?  Red heart

Tomorrow is the first day of summer … and summer-like weather is coming in, right on cue.  The high today is supposed to be 90 with temperatures in the 90’s for the next 7 days (even then, when it “cools” off, it’ll be in the upper 80’s).  Sun

  1. I am curious...when you are making squares, do you put the batting and backing on and quilt each square as you go? And then assemble the squares? Or is that a dumb question? haha I would think you have to put the whole thing together first. Though the rag quilt was done that way so I just wondered.

And then, as for the cyst on your foot, I just a couple of weeks ago discovered a similar thing on my hand, right at the base of my middle finger. I was at the doc's for something else and had her check it out and she said it was a cyst (had a name, don't remember it now). However she told me if it wasn't bothering me to just leave it alone, but if it did she would send me to a specialist who could supposedly EASILY remove it. Well it only kind of bothered me when I was driving, which I don't do a lot of anyway, and other than that I didn't even feel it. She also told me it could shrink on it's own which honestly I didn't believe. However! it is just what it did. It is gone now so I am glad I just left it alone. I got the impression they are really pretty common. Good luck with yours.

Hope the rest of your day went well!

  2. Sounds like you are making progress on your pineapple blocks! I wish you well with the cyst and the specialist. I'm not a procrastinator so I say go for it and get it done - I don't like worrying! Good Luck! ~Jeanne

  5. It's always something, isn't it?

We had our first summer tomato last evening. There is nothing like it.

  6. Even though the cyst is common,I would want it checked out by a specialist so I'm glad you're getting that done!

Glad your garden is trying to revive! Someone in the Superhero's office brought us some tomatoes out of their garden today.

  7. Well, hopefully the cyst is just something bothersome and nothing more.

Have you been watching the CWS games? Of course, Hubby is really enjoying watching it now that he's been there and actually saw 3 games live, even though our poor Tigers lost out.

    Happy quilting!
