Friday’s Fave Five
Susanne over at Living to Tell the Story hosts a weekly look back at the blessings of the previous week. I like the idea of taking the time to intentionally look back to see how I was blessed, so I'm joining in this week.
1. A long weekend … there’s something special about a 3-day weekend, and this past one was no exception. I got in plenty of T-time, had some time to just relax, finished unpacking from our trip, and enjoyed the warm, sunny weather.
2. Packages arriving … I’m really not much of a shopper, although I do rather enjoy shopping online. And there’s something exciting and even a little surprising about the UPS or FedEx driver stopping in front of our house and delivering a box to our front door (even though I know what it is).
3. Getting back on my bike … DH and I have always enjoyed getting out on the bike trails in our area. We’d frequently ride 3-4 times/week, sometimes 20 miles at a time. But this spring has been such a wacky one, weather-wise … too chilly, too rainy, and just not good bike riding weather. Now that the warm weather has arrived, it’s time to get back out onto the trails.
4. Flowers blooming in the landscaping … I just love blooming plants and trees … no boxwoods or yews in my landscaping! In fact, I ripped out 3 yews that the builder had included in the front landscaping and replaced them with 3 azaleas. My hydrangeas have just started to bloom, my knockout roses are blooming like crazy, my hostas are almost getting ready to bloom, and my spireas are starting to bloom.
5. Newton’s Fruit Crisps … we were served this as our snack on our flight out of Portland on our return from the Pacific Northwest. Wow, they were really quite good … and two of the crisps were just 100 calories.

I'm with you, I love getting packages in the mail. It is a little like having a birthday--even though I already know what's inside :)
ReplyDeleteReading about your yard makes me long for spring again. Our spring flowers are long gone, replaced by 100 degree summer heat and brown, dry grass. I am enjoying my daughter's day lilies though. Somehow they can survive the heat and drought.
Have a great weekend! Perhaps enjoy riding a few trails...
I enjoyed your list! You did have a good week...wish I could see all those flowers in bloom...Have a wonderful week-end! HUGS
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't admit this but I ate a whole bag of those this week in blueberry :) Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing that you can still get excited about a package being delivered?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what a yew is, but I definitely want to get a hydrangea...and a hibiscus for the porches!
I wondered about the fruit crisps...will have to get some next time I'm at the store!
Have a good weekend!
Welcome to Friday's Fave Five! So nice to "meet" you.
ReplyDeleteLong weekends are wonderful, I really look forward to them.
It's been raining here too, and I love to bike ride. It's the one "sport" thing that hubby and I enjoy together.
those crisps sound delicious, I'll have to look at them at the store the next time we go shopping.

I love those newton crisps! I just bought the cranberry and blueberry flavors!
ReplyDeleteI do a lot of products reviews, and I love when the UPS and Fed-Ex men come to my door! It's like my birthday!
It's definitely a blessing to see the beautiful flowers everywhere after the long winter we had!

Hello "Nana" Kathy, welcome to fff. I am not a nana yet but look forward to that happy day.
ReplyDeleteI soooo enjoy getting packages in the mail too even when I know what the contents are.
I also enjoy gardening. I didn't know that hostas have flowers. They would be the perfect plants for my shady patio. Next time I get to a nursery, I will check out their selection.
