The Weekend Wrap-up

Whoa!  It was another one of those weekends with nothing planned (other than T#1’s baseball game Saturday morning) that turned out to be a BUSY one!  What a weekend!

Friday evening, I got a phone call from DD to come get T#4.  Their whole family went to see Cars 2, and T#4 (who will sit and watch movies at home) wouldn’t sit still .  It was nice to have some time with her, just the 3 of us.  We’d all been so excited about their “movie night” since T#3 is a HUGE Cars fan.  They’d been planning this outing for months, but DD reported that the movie (and as a result their evening) just didn’t live up to the hype … it was just a little too violent and too adult for their little ones … even T#2 who knows no fear was a little frightened by the violence.

Saturday morning, we had T#1’s baseball game.  It was an 11:30 game which gave us several hours to just chill out … I like getting up earlier in the mornings, but it takes me 2-3 hours to get myself going and ease into the day … so the late morning game was ideal for what I thought was going to be a lazy day.

After lunch, I got out and mowed for DH … he’s taking an antibiotic for his sinus infection, and one of the warnings is to avoid sun exposure.  I rather enjoy mowing … it’s something that can be done almost mindlessly … just me and my thoughts … and I have to confess that I enjoy the immediate gratification of a freshly mown lawn … not to mention that it gives me a bit of a workout.

Within minutes of finishing the mowing, DD called and suggested I come by to get any of the plants they were digging up from their back yard.  Their new house is on a small lot and practically half of the back yard is a huge flower garden.  It’s beautiful but not very practical for a family with 4 kids.  I grabbed my shovel and head to collect a few plants.  3 hours later, I had my plants and some very sore muscles.

Today we went to church and after lunch, I got to work planting my new plants.  I planted about half the Siberian irises.  I’m still pondering where to plant the butterfly bush and the bearded irises.  I’d hoped to do a little quilting this evening, but my hands are just too sore to do any quilting tonight.  I think I’ll do a little reading instead.

Hope your weekend was a wonderful one.

  2. I am sorry to hear that the movie was kind of violent as I have been looking forward to seeing it with one of my grandsons. I don't know why they do that sometimes...sigh...sounds like you have been busy and had a good week-end. One of my most favorite smells in all the world is freshly mowed grass! : ) Have a wonderful week! HUGS

  4. You know, I like mowing as well! Thought I was strange so I'm glad to see you like mowing. Problem is I can't start the thing! Hubby bought a new one and I simply am not strong enough to pull that pull thing fast enough. What kind do you have?
Nice weekend that was not planned!
