The Weekend Wrap-up

What a busy weekend … I’m going to go to work Monday morning just to rest up from the weekend.  ha!

Friday I got caught up a little around the house.  Ok, about all I managed to accomplish was cleaning the hardwoods, but they really needed it.  We met up with DD & family for dinner.  Friends from church have a BBQ business on the side, and the first Friday of the month they sell BBQ and sides at the Gun Club.  The meat is awesome, and their sweet potato fries are THE BEST.  This is their last Friday at the Gun Club (a change in his “real” job involves too much travel to be able to devote the time to preparing BBQ).

Saturday morning DD invited me to a girls’ day out.  She, T#2 and T#4 were going to go do early Christmas shopping (in case she’s unable to get out to shop after her surgery in December) … and they invited me along.  That just made my heart sing!  We picked up almost all their gifts for the Ts … and a few from us, too.  We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory … it was the first time I’d ever eaten there, and talk about overload when looking the menu!  Finally, I just picked something … and it was wonderful!  I purposely haven’t gone to their website to check out the nutritional information because I’m sure it was NOT healthy!  We got 2 slices of cheesecake to share … mmmm, yummy!

We got back to DD’s just in time for dinner … so they invited us to join them for dinner and a movie.  Dinner wasn’t anything fancy … BLTs and chocolate shakes, but they sure were good!  And we watched Cars 2.  T#3 loves Cars and Cars 2.  We enjoyed Cars 2, although it didn’t seem to be quite as suitable for little bitties (DD suggested it was Pixar’s version of Mission Impossible for kids).

Sunday morning found us at church.  We stopped at the grocery store on the way home to ingredients for a meal for a family from church … when I told DH that I was going to make them lasagna, he asked me to make some for us.  That meant that I spent the afternoon making two batches of lasagna.  We spent the evening just relaxing and getting ready for another busy week.

It was a busy weekend … but a wonderful one!

  1. I bet the lasagna came out great; a good thing to take for a meal to a family too! Yum on the Cheesecake Factory except for the fact that here in California because of some "pesky" law, all restaurants have to have posted close by calorie counts of everything and anything so as you are walking by the bakery where all the yummy cheesecakes are, the calories are all posted there (doesn't stop me though from getting a piece if I want a piece). But you are right; that menu has it all on it! Glad you had a chance to get out and spend time with DD and two of the T's and get some shopping done!

Those sweet potato fries sound good too!

Glad it was a great weekend for you!

  3. The portions at Cheesecake Factory are so enormous. I've learned to share a main so we have room for dessert : )

  6. Hi there, Oh what a busy weekend and Christmas shopping already? You go girl. I love the Cheesecake Factory(the closest one is 45 min away) but so good. I haven't seen Cars 2 but hear it is very much adult humor. Some of our grands will only watch it the one time. Jennifer's book is somewhat new and I also got The Aloha Quilt" which is new and she has a new one coming out soon-TheWedding Quilt".
Have a great evening; we've got 5 grands (maybe all nine)coming over. I'll be tired when they leave.

  7. Sounds like a busy, but fun weekend. Lasagna sounds good, I haven't made any since our son's wedding in June. I think it's about time to make it again!

  9. Lasagna is something I haven't made in over a year, I guess it's time to make some. Cheesecake is something I love but the crust is so high in carbs. Sounds like you had a great time this weekend. I'm so glad you had such fun.

  10. Mmmmm, my mouth is watering...cheesecake, sweet potato fries, lasagna!

You did need to replenish your calorie supplies after washing your hardwoods. :) My house is all hardwoods and it takes me forever on my hands and knees to 'git er done'.
