Today is a perfect day for Friday Fragments here … if it weren’t for Friday Fragments, I don’t know that I would have had a post today.
I’ve been spending a good chunk of my days in the sewing room. I’m continuing to make good progress on my log cabin blocks. It’s helped that the USA Network has been airing some NCIS marathons … they’ve helped keep me entertained while I’ve been sewing strips.
We had to break down and turn on the air conditioner yesterday. Not so much because it was getting too hot, but because the winds were blowing in a lot of dust from the construction site next door. When I saw a thick layer of dust on the dining table, I knew that it was time to shut the windows … which meant we’d have to turn on the air conditioner. It was inevitable that we’d have to turn on the air conditioner as it’s going to be in the 90’s this weekend (97 on Saturday and Sunday).
I have a view of the late-afternoon/early-evening sun from my sewing table, and last night’s setting sun was beautiful.
DH and I are planning this fall’s trip. We’d originally planned to return to Hilton Head this fall, but after talking about it, we’re going to visit the Outer Banks instead. We had planned a visit there last fall … but Hurricane Irene interfered with those plans.
I’ve been a day off all week … yesterday really felt like Friday, and I’m convinced that today is Saturday. Ha!
It was looking like we were going to have a quiet, uneventful weekend here at Chez Nana … thankfully we’ll have some excitement this weekend with T#2’s birthday party. She’ll be turning 8 on Tuesday, and we’ll get to celebrate that a little early on Sunday.
You are so fortunate to have gone so long without turning the A/C on. Ours has been on since the end of March! I think our humidity makes the heat less tolerable here.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I decided to join in with the Friday Fragments today too. When I saw your post I thought why not. My post is definitely just a bunch of bits and pieces. So I think it works okay.
ReplyDeleteLove your background. Very cute!
We watch NCIS all the time too! Love that show--reruns or new ones!
Beautiful sunset picture!
Glad you get to have some fun with the T's this weekend! Hope you have a great weekend.
Have you been to the Outer Banks before? We love it there. Haven't been back since Irene hit though. The 'off-season' is so relaxing! Have fun planning! Have a wonderful weekend! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI've never been to the Outer Banks, but sure sounds like a great time to me! Enjoy your weekend, Kathy...our AC has been on for several weeks now. I'd never make a pioneer woman! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the new blog look. Perfect for Memorial Day! We went to the Outerbanks last year for vacation. It was a lot of fun!! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteOne spring when I had opened the windows to let in the "fresh" air, I began to have a horrible headache that never stopped - - - until about 2 weeks later when I walked in to a McD's and the headache started letting up. Suddenly it dawned on me "allergies!" So now I live from heat to AC and back continually.
ReplyDeleteAnd I get those "off a day" weeks sometimes and it's pretty much a bummer if it makes you MISS something important 'cause you think its another day all together than it really is!
We have had our AC on for over two months! O.K. we live in hot, humid Florida! My California grands are coming in June and they bring sweatshirts to wear in our house! :) They say I freeze them. They don't have AC and really don't need it for the most part!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun BD party!
We will probably have to turn the air on this weekend also. Suppose to be in the 90's. Have a good weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have been very close to turning the air on but haven't yet. Now today it is chilly outside :) Beautiful sunset.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend and enjoy the birthday party!
Oh, my, we've been running the a/c for a couple of months. Now, not all the time, but nearly everyday at some point.
ReplyDeleteThe Outer Banks sounds wonderful and hopefully the hurricanes will not interfere this year.
Are your little divider "squillys" off the internet? They are a nice touch.
Happy weekend!
Nice to hear about your week. I can't believe that you just now turned your a/c on - we have had ours on a long time.

Wow. 97?! We haven't even hit that yet! Yes! Turn on that AC- immediately. LOL
ReplyDeleteWow hot weather already coming to run the air conditioner! I guess summer is around the corner! How neat to already be playing your next get away in the fall!
