Another week comes to an end … which means that it’s time for Friday Fragments!
DH and I had tickets to the hockey game Tuesday evening. On our way to the arena, we stopped for dinner at Romano’s Macaroni Grill … I surprised myself with my restraint and ordered off their “light” menu. It was good, but it wasn’t nearly as good as what I would have rather ordered. I wish I could say that the hockey game was a perfect ending to a perfect day, but our Blues looked more like a 2-7 hockey team than a 7-2 team.
Thanks to some advice from our neighbor (a retired policeman from Chicago), we were able to get our toll booth violation removed. Wow – that was much quicker and easier than I could have imagined.
I have cut the fabric for T#2’s quilt into strips and made some good headway into sub-cutting the strips into squares. After “consulting” with DD, I’ve decided that I’m going to use a “trip-around-the-world” setting for the squares, add a smaller inner border and use the striped fabric for an outer border.
I won’t get any fabric cutting done in the next couple of days since we’ll have T#4 here this afternoon and tomorrow while mama and daddy take the bigs to their swim meet in Hannibal, MO. While I’ll miss working in my sewing room, I’ll gladly give up time in the sewing room for time with our little girlie.
We joined the YMCA this week … and I put our membership to use yesterday with a nice long workout with the treadmill. I love how I can just plug in my iPhone and walk to my own music … and have a little praise and worship time while getting some exercise. I can’t wait to go back.
Good for you getting to the YMCA. I always say you gotta keep moving to stay healthy.
ReplyDeleteI now want Macaroni Grill..mmm...I love all things Pasta
That quilt is going to be colorful... I love that!!!
Sorry about your team's loss, but the evening sounded like fun.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors of the strips.
Have fun with the wee one.
Good morning! Good joy on joining the Y, and yes music really helps doesn't it? Good start on that quilt. Enjoy your time with that grandbaby! And the rest of your week-end too!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I hit the treadmill or head out to the local park, I love listening to contemporary Christian music. Helps sets my mood for the rest of the day. I love Macaroni Grill! Ooh, that bread they bring with the olive oil to dip it in! I can't get enough!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a Macaroni Grill in ages. We have so many Italian restaurants here in this area that we usually go to one of those.
ReplyDeleteI belong to the Y. I need to get my self back there! Have a nice weekend : )
I love Macaroni Grill. I have two favorites there but haven't eaten them in a year since I'm doing low carb. I miss them. It has been at least 35 years since I've been to a hockey game. Sounds like fun. I have been thinking of joining the YMCA but haven't researched how close one is to our house. I want to swim! Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteOkay - so is that material being cut for a quilt????
ReplyDeleteYou've been on my mind the last few days...I'm thinking of trying 'my hand' at a quilt. But, I need to wait 'til the seasonal fabrics come out. I bought a cute little witch [large square of fabric panel] and I want to make what I intended, but got scared. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhile viewing all your work, I always get inspired. But, still have that inner fear I'll mess it all up.
Anyway, I've never EVER been to a hockey game in person, always watched them on ESPN. That sounds like fun.
It sounds like a very nice weekend in store for you. I am so glad you got your toll things taken care of.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your grands!
Ah, working out. I want to do that!! We just can't swing the membership right now and no room at the inn for a machine here ;-)
ReplyDeleteI really want to learn quilting, seriously I want to.
I have to say I do like that most restaurants are having some light dishes on their menus. It helps. Olive Garden has some really good things on theirs.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the YMCA while you're getting your exercise!
Have a great weekend!
How fun to join the Y!! Wonderful way to get exercise in any season!!!

The colors are lovely! Birdie (the daughter who taught herself how to quilt) made one of her sisters a quilt for Christmas. It was gorgeous! I asked for a Christmas quilt for this Christmas. She's already working on it though so I hope to get it soon. LOVE quilts but can't make them. I do not have that kind of patience.

ReplyDeleteI've seen some commercials for Macaroni Grill and wondered if it was any good.
I've been cutting away here this week.
ReplyDeleteJoining the Y has been on my list, but the nearest one is 60 miles away.
Music sure makes the time on the treadmill go by faster, doesn't it? It sure helps me!
ReplyDeleteWe don't even have a YMCA in our area and they always offer such nice activities. I remember them when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the finished quilt. I love those colors!
I have a pretty nice treadmill downstairs that I really need to use. You'll enjoy the Y; I miss the one we went to in SC!
