We’re over halfway through the last week of February … blink a couple of times and we’ll be in March. So let’s wrap up February with another Hodgepodge!
1. When were you last facing an ocean? Using just ONE word, describe how you felt as you faced that ocean.
Last month … we faced the Atlantic and the Caribbean. There are so many words that describe how I feel when I’m at the ocean/beach, but if I have to choose one, I’ll choose renewal. My spirit is renewed whenever I’m at the beach.
2. What are three sounds you hate to hear?
A door slammed in anger, a baby/child crying, the squeal of slamming brakes.
3. This question comes to you courtesy of some real life friends. Hi real life friends! When you shop for yourself, do you try everything on in the store before buying or do you buy, try on at home, and then return what you don't like or what doesn't fit?
I’m not a fan of “brick and mortar” shopping, so in order to minimize the shopping experience, I buy, try on at home and then return what needs to be returned.
4. February 26th is National Pistachio Day...are you a fan of the little green nut? Do you use them in cooking and baking or prefer to eat them right out of the shell?
Nope, not a fan of the pistachio.
5. When did you last have to compromise with someone? Were you happy to reach the compromise or slightly irritated it was necessary?
When you’re married, life is full of little compromises … but when love is the driving force, all those compromises become expressions of the “two becoming one”.
6. Have you ever written a letter to an elected official? Did you get a response?
No, I’ve never written a letter to an elected official.
7. We 'March' into a new month at the end of this week...what's something on your March calendar guaranteed to make you smile?
In any given year, a highlight of March would be our trip to Florida for Spring Training. But this year we’re foregoing Spring Training … our spring travel budget has been maxed out, funding our cruise in January and our trip to Disney/beach in May with DD and her family. But I’ve got several other things on our March calendar that will make me smile, one of which is having T#3 and T#4 here this weekend. We’ll have a full 2 days of the littles, and I can’t wait.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I woke up to a dusting of snow and a few falling flakes this morning. It’s supposed to continue all day with no significant accumulation.
good morning! I think we share a real love of the ocean. I could sit there for hours and feel soo "renewed"..your right, such a perfect word. And you certainly came up with 3 more sounds I hate too, haha. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWe were in Tampa this past weekend so lots of spring training fans on our flights coming and going. Disney will be a blast though-definitely something to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteYou stated your answer to #5 so eloquently!
ReplyDeleteBeing near the ocean renews my spirit, too. I call it my "therapy".
Enjoy your falling flakes of snow.
Lots of quilting going to get done while watching the snow fall?
ReplyDeleteGood questions and great answers. Enjoy the snow.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your answers.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way when I am at the beach. Renewed . It just makes my spirit feel refreshed. I like that you are looking forward to having your little ones and I like your answer on compromise.
Enjoy your snow today. It sounds nice.
You're the only one besides myself that I've come across this morning who buys things and tries on at home. I detest trying things on in a store! I bought a pair of shoes recently...didn't even bother trying them on. Guess what? They're too big, so it's back to the store I go! Love your answer to #5...you said it well!
ReplyDeleteLove the ocean - it soothes me like nothing else can!!! It's been way too long since I was able to visit, but I hope to change that this summer :*)
ReplyDeleteI think most of our answers were the same - except the beach :) Though I do like the word 'renewal' :) That's what I get when I'm in trees/mountains
ReplyDeleteThat kinda snow is headed here tomorrow - my favorite kind - no sticking to roads.
It was the year I graduated from high school. It was the Atlantic Ocean. That was the only time.
ReplyDeleteAnswer 5 was so well said, I wish I had said it that way. Nice answer to #1 as well, yes renewed is a good word. We ended up with all 3 things, rain sleet, snow. Fun for sure.
ReplyDeleteRenewal is a great choice for a word describing how you felt. I'm not familiar with the term Brick and Mortar but I do not like having to return things. My brother in Milwaukee got a lot of snow last night. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI had to choose between invigorated and motivated for my beach words. I think I would consider renewal if I didn't live at the coast. Sometimes, living so close, I tend to take it for granted. We still aren't getting much winter weather. But I'm holding out hope! There's ALWAYS hope, right? Right! Enjoy your afternoon!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you about slamming brakes sound, not usually a good outcome afterwards! Renewal is a good word to describe the ocean; mine would be breath taking!

Great answer to #5! enjoy your snow and your grands! We are headed to Tenn for the weekend to celebrate our 6 yr old granddaughter's birthday. SO, I am looking forward to a couple of days with 3 of our "littles"!
ReplyDeleteThe ocean does have a way of renewing us, doesn't it? Sound of brakes was on my list.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm getting closer to not being a fan of brick and mortar shopping. Some sales people get on my nerves. I've given up shopping for shoes anywhere but online. I have wide feet and no one carries wides and look at me like I'm crazy when I ask for something in a wide. sigh.
ReplyDeleteI miss the days of "no significant accumulation". Doesn't happen much in Minnesota. (Did I ever tell you we used to live in Columbia?)
Online shopping is my favorite way to shop! I shop clearances and free shipping is a must!
ReplyDeleteRenewal is a wonderful word! I always think of healing when I'm looking at the Gulf.....my grandma always said stepping into the Gulf would heal whatever was wrong with you!
Enjoy those grands! That would make me smile too!
I also enjoy the ocean, actually the water is general. I loe the smells, the sounds and the vastness of it. I think renewal is a good description of how it makes you feel. Hope you enjoy your T's. March for me means spring is coming and I can't wait for it's arrival!
