Baby, It's Cold Outside

Many of you know that I am something of a weather geek. And there's a lot going on here to satisfy even the most ardent weather geek. ;-)  We got about 3" of snow overnight Wednesday ... although it was hard to know for sure because the heavy winds yesterday morning kept the snow moving. If that wasn't enough, we had wind chills of 0 ... no surprise then that my friend and I chose not to walk as we'd planned. ;-)

While it is going to "warm" up over the next couple of days (to a "balmy" 43 on Saturday), we've got another front moving through Saturday night into Sunday morning ... up to 8" of snow with a low of -10 on Sunday and a low of -11/high of 0 forecast for Monday.
So much for DH's assertion that getting a snow blower for Christmas would ensure that we'd have no more snow this winter - ha!

Needless to say that other than walking next door to visit our neighbors (since she and I couldn't walk, we at least got together for a visit), I didn't leave the house yesterday ... I got caught up on my blog reading and spent the afternoon with needle and thread. It turned out to be the perfect day for the crockpot pot roast I had planned for dinner. Yum!  Finished up my lazy day with the hockey game and more quilting.

Our tree and Christmas decorations are still up ... time to get it put away, don't you think?  ;-)  December was just so busy that I didn't have a lot of quilting time, so it's hard to pull myself away from my needle and thread now that things have slowed down a little. Maybe when I get back from walking this morning (at the Y!) ... or then again, maybe not.  Ha!

Hope you all are staying warm - and safe!

  1. It's cold here too. -3 on the way to work this morning. We were supposed to get 3 inches, but we got more like 8 or so. Not good for a little short legged puppy! ha

    Stay warm if you can!

  2. It's the coldest here in Nashville that I can remember in our 10 years here! We're expecting 0 tonight I believe - crazy! I'm definitely part bear; all I want to do is hibernate. It's difficult to even want to sew. I think I need to move to Florida LOL!!!

  3. Stay warm! It is very cold for this area of NC. High of 33 today. Of course, much colder at home. Kind of wish I was in my sewing studio, quilting away! I'd vote for sewing today if I was you! ~Jeanne

  4. Good morning! Wow! Yep, it IS pretty cold over there. I honestly have such a hard time even imagining it. We have been sitting in the low to the mid 70's for days and then dipping into the low 40's at night. Just about perfect in my book. Cold enough at night to need to borough under the blankets and snuggle up to get warm, and yet so warm during the day you are in short sleeves etc. Don't see any change in the forecast until next Thursday when it dips to 64 and maybe a little rain either...snow intrigues me, but I am grateful for our gorgeous weather. Keep warm! And enjoy all the stitching time. It is going to be Monday before I sit my machine back up...I am soo looking forward to it!

  7. Sounds like some soup and bread days are in order with lots of quilting time. Our trees are down but all my other decorations are still up. Was planning to do it today but worked on picking up and vacuuming floors all morning with the kids. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

  9. That is some seriously cold weather.
I am amazed at how cold it is and how much snow you are getting.
It does sound like you are having a nice time though.
Stay warm and enjoy it. I laughed about the snow blower, I would have thought the same thing. It is like us and firewood. Now we can't burn it. Our air quality is so bad that our wood pile just sits.
    Have a lovely weekend.

  11. Well, we do not have snow, but it is the coldest it has been in 3 years. Thank goodness the sun is shining but it is suppose to stay this way until the middle of next week. I'll be in my cuddle duds and wool socks. :o) Sounds like you are being most productive in spite of the weather.

  12. I have a few days this coming week that I have things to do so I am waiting until maybe next Friday to start taking the decorations down.
I will miss them. I did less this year and it doesn't seem so overwhelming or intrusive this year.
    Stay safe and warm!

  13. It's cold here too. We were going to repeat the 'Million Bulb" walk at the gardens last night with the grandchildren, but with the windchill being between 5-10 degrees we decided to skip it and stayed home and played games...I think it was a good choice! How many days till spring??

  14. Hope you are buddled up and cozy for the winter blast headed our way. We are weather nerds here, too-mainly because we have to be! I'll check back to see which of us got the most snow!
