Don’t let the door hit ya in the behind, as they say. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to be done with January … this month has seemed to last foooooorever! I guess it’s been the crazy weather … pleasant, almost-springlike temperatures one day, bitterly cold temperatures the next, 15” of snow in one feel swoop. I like snow … but not that much (at one time, anyway) and certainly not with those frigid temperatures!!
At least with February, we have hope that spring will be here soon … spring training starts, we have a couple of birthdays in the family, and it’s a short month, so even if it’s cold and snowy, we only have to endure 28 days of not.
DH and I finished that puzzle we started a week or two ago. It’s missing one piece … a corner piece. Since we start by putting together the borders (is that how you all start a puzzle?), we knew from the get-go that we were missing a piece, although we hoped that maybe we just didn’t see it when we first separated the border pieces. We’ve got another puzzle waiting to be worked … I’m not sure if we’ll start it soon or if we’ll wait a little while, take a bit of a break.
I’m still working on my Storm at Sea. I’m getting closer to the outermost band of blocks … but the further out I go, the more blocks are in a band so it doesn’t go any more quickly when I’m stitching in the last two bands like I am now. At least before too much longer, I’ll get to use my border hoop that I bought last fall.
We booked our condo for our May trip to Hilton Head … wiser heads prevailed and we both agreed that because of the significant savings, we’d book the non-ocean view condo and add a couple of more days to our trip. ;-) I can walk around to the other side of the condo building and get a picture of a sunrise or two. Of course, now that we’ve booked the condo, I’m ready to go NOW! ha!
Have a fabulous Friday, y’all!
yay at both the getting closer to finishing that quilt, and for booking the condo! And two more days! doesn't get better...soo exciting! Enjoy your week-end my friend!
ReplyDeleteYes, I build the frame first and have taught the kids to do that too! I wonder if it might have slipped under something? Good luck finding the piece.
ReplyDeleteYea - for booking your trip in May! With all the cold temps I'll be you can't wait to be walking on a warm beach enjoying the waves roll in on the shore.
I always do the outside of a puzzle first too! So glad you have a place at Hilton Head. Is the snow missing you today? It is coming straight at us - a few more inches and more wind! I hope spring comes soon! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteYep, that's how we work puzzles. Turn all the pieces right side up first and then work the border.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on booking your reservations. Now you can dream about that during all this weather stuff.
Have a great weekend.
Funny, I saw an ad on TV last night where you could book a room for $9 a night on HH! I'm sure it is one of those tome share promos, but I did think of you when I saw it! We booked our Jekyll house a few weeks ago...so I'm ready for July!! :-)
ReplyDeleteJanuary has brought me a year older but it also brought me some snow so I'm not that happy to see it go. :) Maybe February will bring some more snow! But not another year older. LOL Yes, we always do the edges and corners first in our puzzles.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you - I'm tired of the cold. I know it's nothing like what you have, but it's way more than we're used to having here.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to see the end of January too. The weather this month has been beyond miserable!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you girlfriend - good riddance January!!! February always means winter is on its way out to me too. It may be bitterly cold, but I know it won't be as long as it has been :) Lucky you going to Hilton Head! Don and I need to schedule a vacation for just the two of us and soon - it's been way too long!
ReplyDeleteI hate when a puzzle is missing a piece. It just seems so wrong.
ReplyDeleteYes, always start with the boarder! Sounds like you have something wonderful to look forward too....
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for you.
