1. It's been said that one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. Do you think that's true? Do you find that an easy exercise most mornings? What's something positive you told yourself today? If you missed that boat, what's something positive you could tell yourself tomorrow?
I'm sure it's very true ... if we start our day in a positive frame of mind, it can influence our attitude for the rest of the day ... once we get our day started (with either a positive or negative attitude), it's increasingly difficult to change our outlook.
2. There will be karaoke at the next party you attend...are you in? Or will you be faking a sore throat?
I will put on my big girl panties and say thanks, but no thanks. ;-) And trust me, the other guests will appreciate that! ha!
3. January 29th is National Puzzle Day...what's something you've found puzzling recently?
3. January 29th is National Puzzle Day...what's something you've found puzzling recently?
I cannot figure out why I've suddenly stopped getting email notifications on conversations I'm following in my Facebook groups. I get most email notifications for non-group conversations I'm following, just not for the groups I belong to. I've checked my settings and I've checked to see if they might have gone to my junk mail folder. No luck.
4. Jigsaw, crossword, acrostic, logic, sudoku, word search...what's your favorite kind of puzzle, and when did you last work one?
Jigsaw. We're currently in the middle of one we bought when we visited the Outer Banks in 2012.
5. Recently a writer by the name of Amy Glass ruffled feathers with a post she wrote saying she looks down on young women with husbands and kids and she's not sorry. Among other things, she says women will be equal with men when we stop saying house work and real work are equally important. You can read the whole piece by clicking here.
What say you? Do you think men and women are equal in the 21st century? Why or why not?
Is she really serious? This makes me so sad (and not just a little angry) that I'm at a loss for words.
6. What's a product you've noticed in the grocery store that you'd like to try, but haven't yet?
6. What's a product you've noticed in the grocery store that you'd like to try, but haven't yet?
No ... I can't remember the last time I crossed the threshold to a grocery store ... when DH and I married, we had a talk about our responsibilities ... I told him that if I would continue to work to contribute to our household income, he would need to contribute to the maintenance of our household ... he chose to do the shopping, and truth be told, I was ecstatic that he chose that responsibility because I can't tell you how much I dislike shopping! ;-)
7. The author, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) was born this week in 1832 (January 27th). Which character from his celebrated novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, would you most like to meet, and why? Here's a link to a character list if you need help on this one.
I've never read Alice in Wonderland, and I can't say that I'd be too anxious to meet any of them since they all seem to be so very disagreeable (if not downright mean).
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I am sure the lighthouse puzzle will be amazing when finished.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how Facebook makes a random change here and there? Over the past year, a number of things have changed and I feel like I spend hours trying to figure out what used to be simple ;) I'd rather spend my time quilting! Have a good Wednesday. ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteYour puzzle looks like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteFacebook has been annoying me a lot lately. It's getting less user friendly and a lot more commercialized. I hate how they think they can plop ads there and not my friends updates. I have had to go to each individual friend and make sure I checked the option to see all updates and not the default only important updates Facebook wants me to have. I find myself spending less and less time on Facebook because it simply isn't as enjoyable as it used to be. That may be a good thing... :)
My mother would LOVE that puzzle- she's a lighthouse fanatic. :)
ReplyDeleteLove getting to know you better through your hodge podge answers... I too love puzzles... I too have the SAME problems with facebook... :) Wish we could fix that! Have a great hump day! Kathi
ReplyDeleteThe puzzle looks wonderful! And I hate it when something like the email thing happens and there is just no figuring it out! Enjoy your day Kathy!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe of your jigsaw puzzle. I'd never have enough patience to finish that one!
ReplyDeleteI love your lighthouse puzzle. I have a collection of lighthouses.
ReplyDeleteFacebook did something funny this weekend and now when I use my app I get my newsfeed out of order no matter what I do to try and get most recent first. I swear sometimes I don't know why I bother with it.
ReplyDeleteAnother jigsaw puzzle that looks fabulous! Will be heading to Calgary next week, maybe do one or two with my DD!
ReplyDeleteI do believe that the first thing I told myself this morning that I was happy that I had made it to another day.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day. I always love reading your hodgepodge today. I hope you are staying warm.
ReplyDeleteI thnk a lot of us think that a good attitude in the morning makes all the difference and that changing your attitude later in the day is just way to hard. Love that Hubby shops, good man.
ReplyDeleteYep, my hubby has been reminding me about spring training. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Oh my... that puzzle gives me anxiety.. but I would love to do it :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on getting your jigsaw puzzle put together...I just don't have the patience! A hubby who does the grocery shopping? Good for you! Oddly enough, that's one 'chore' I don't seem to mind too much.
ReplyDeleteYour puzzle is looking good...I like lighthouses. I am blessed to have a hubby who likes grocery shopping, too.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't do all of it, but he is a big help. I thought about joining the Hodgepodge, but wasn't sure how to do it. Never participated in a"link up" before.I thought there would be some instructions, but didn't see any. Anyway, a friend of mine ordered spring training tix this week for the Braves...so I think lots of folks are "smelling" spring! :-)
I love your lighthouse puzzle! I adore lighthouses of any kind. :0)
ReplyDeleteI have to find that and send it to my Mom about the spring training! Too funny. Oh no... that means they will be coming down next month and I need to make the sewing room into a guest room. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteStay warm - I love puzzles and lighthouses. A great mix.
I feel like every time I get on Facebook something is tweaked, changed, or rearranged. Usually by the time I get used to it, something moves in to take its place!
ReplyDeleteWhen Boyfriend and I moved in together we made an agreement: He cooks, I clean. I hate cooking and he hates cleaning. Now, we do help each other out a bit, but it's a good arrangement. Until he makes a mess. lol
ReplyDelete#5. That article just made me mad.
ReplyDelete#7. My kids read Alice in Wonderland when they were in high school. They are convinced that Lewis Carroll was high on drugs when he wrote the book. It's very weird.
Like the lighthouse puzzle, kinda of inspires me to pull out a puzzle from the closet for the weekend. Facebook is constantly making changes so it doesn't surprise me that you are having problems, I don't know why they feel the need to constantly tweak
ReplyDeleteLove to start the day with a positive attitude. As for woman being equal these days, I think that is possible or as my daughter says you can do anything you want, but it won't happen by blaming a man. She and her husband both have great careers, but she definitely is the bigger bread winner, and he picks up the slack with the kids. She will tell you that being a stay at home mom is a much harder job than being equal to a man.
