It’s been busy, busy, busy here since my last post … which would help explain why there’s been no post since Saturday morning.
We spent Saturday at my dad’s. It was such a nice day … not a cloud in the sky, a nice breeze and delightful temperatures. I’ll be honest and say that I would have rather been home that day … out on the deck stitching. But we hadn’t been out to see my dad since April (if you recall, we were gone for a couple of weeks in May … and were busy the days before and after our trip), so we needed to get out to see him. It’s getting harder and harder for him to get around … he’s becoming a bit of a recluse, so I definitely wanted to spend some time. Thankfully his friends drop by from time to time, and he’s got a “personal assistant” who comes once a week (one of the few things that the State of Illinois seems to do well is providing assistance to low-income seniors to help them stay in their homes as long as possible).
Sunday, we headed to DD’s after church for a family get-together to celebrate Father’s Day. One of the “problems” with married children is finding ways to get together to celebrate holidays … thankfully their parents are all willing to get along so there’s no problems about how to celebrate those special days.
Yesterday we had all 4 Ts so Mama and Daddy could get a few things done around the house and run some errands. I picked them up at 6:15 to take them to 7:00 swim practice … that’s 7:00 AM! And yes, the water is cold at 7AM! By the time we got home (1:00), we had just enough time for a quick lunch before I put T#4 down for her nap. After dinner, it had cooled off enough that we could get outside for some play … I never did figure out what they were playing … all I could determine was that it involved lots of running around the house. I imagine they all slept well last night … I know I did!
Thankfully there’s not much on today’s agenda … until tonight’s swim meet. And it looks like we might actually get in today’s meet! Both of last week’s meets were halted when the storms came in. Unfortunately there are more storms in the forecast for Thursday night (the next meet this week).
In the meantime, I’m going to try to get the rest of my fabric kitted up for my retreat next month. I would like to get that wrapped up as I’d like to be able to get back into the sewing room tomorrow to finish piecing DD’s quilt. I’m anxious to start the hand quilting!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
Kathy
helping with little ones sure can be tiring can't it! sounds like you all had fun though
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Glad you were able to get out to see your dad and that he is doing well. And yes, I do think what the state of Illinois does to help out seniors is wonderful. Wish all the states did that. Sounds like you have been soo busy. And you are such a big help to your daughter...she is soo blessed to have you. I feel like I am going around in circles as I have TOO many projects going. Not really me. I like to do one at a time. But I am dabbling everywhere and feeling a bit stressed by it, lol. I decided to work on the projects from start to finish in the order I need them to give. I have a dil and my daughter with birthdays in July, so they are first! Hope you have a relaxing yet productive day!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had time with your dad and daughter and grandkids! Isn't family wonderful!!!

ReplyDeleteDid you ever think you would be so busy in this season of life...I know I didn't. A good busy though, I would say! Hope you are able to get some rest and stitching done.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds so good though. I think you are so busy and you do have your hands full, but it is good.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever get too tired to sew? I do sometimes.
I bet you had such a nice time with them all and I bet you have a really nice time sewing today.
I know you enjoyed time with your dad, Kathy. I love hearing all about your day...never a dull moment, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteSounds like all is moving along pretty smoothly in your world - I'm glad! I understand the issue with getting together with adult kids - it can be a nightmare. Our kids in-laws are pretty good to work with us too, which certainly helps! I know you will be glad to be all ready for retreat - think of the fun there!!!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds to me like you make a pretty good "personal assistant" yourself! Your children are blessed to have you.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly imagine keeping up with 4 Grans. Just the two I have keep us busy. I'm sure you needed today to recover.
ReplyDeleteHope they get all their swim meets in this week. We just went to HB's last wee ball game this evening. So, so cute and entertaining.
It sounds like it has been a busy few days for you. I hope the rest of the week is quiet.
ReplyDeleteYou have definitely been busy, a good busy! I hope you get some sewing time, it has been hard to find that around my house lately too!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice visit with your dad...I know he loved it! :-)
ReplyDeleteI understand why you're tired! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, Thanks so much for the anniversary wishes. I so understand how hard it is to squeeze in blogging-after all my chores and grocery shopping, I got in some sewing time. I love this quilt(I will send photos when I have something to show)and feel like I want to just stitch and stitch. It's been a long time since I was able to sit and focus on a quilt. I'm so glad that your dad is able to be in his home-what a blessing. Hope the rest of your week is great; we are getting rain and thunder even as I type.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Noreen
Sounds quite busy indeed and with all age spectrums :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to visit with your dad. I agree that getting together with adult children does take some planning. Sounds like some nice quality time with the T's!
