Things were crazy busy this last week. But since most of the busy-ness involved DD and my Ts, I’m definitely not complaining.
And that was the case Tuesday. DD and the Ts were out and about that morning and picked up The Lego Movie DVD … and invited me to a “private screening” of the new movie. My decision was a no brainer … that fabric would still be there on Wednesday. We had an early dinner and headed out to that night’s swim meet. And we actually got in a meet! The first one this year. T#3 was really at the top of his “game” and finished one of his heats considerably ahead of the rest of the swimmers. It was so cute to see him look around and realize that there were no other swimmers at the end of the pool … he used his finger to count out each of the other 5 swimmers and when he’d counted them all, he raised his arms in celebration. His face was jubilant when he ran over to tell me that he won his heat.
After taking my dad to his ophthalmologist appointment and then back home, I had my afternoon and evening free …. and I finished cutting the fabric for retreat. I discovered that I was short some fabric for my pineapple quilt (especially the light fabric), so I ordered more. I still need to iron and cut the border fabrics for DD’s chevron … I don’t have anything on the agenda for the weekend (so far, anyway!), so I think that will be on my to-do list for Saturday. It shouldn’t take too long, thanks to my GO … I’m hoping to be able to finish up stitching the last 3 rows of DD’s chevron quilt … and start piecing together the rows. I can’t wait to see some rows on my design floor.
DH and I got out early (or so we thought) Thursday morning to get in some much-needed yard work … we had hoped to get out there before it got too hot, but it has gotten so hot and humid that we would have had to have been out there at sunrise in order to avoid the heat.
We had the 2 littlest Ts here Friday … Mama was busy with T#2’s friend birthday party (her birthday was May 29, but between swim practice/meets and other summertime commitments, this was the only day all her her friends were available). Thanks to a late night Thursday evening (the meet was 45 minutes away), Nana and Papa and the 2 littles were all pretty tired … we all needed some nap/quiet time after lunch.
Did you all know that today is World-wide Quilt in Public Day? Well, the phrase “world-wide” might be a bit of a stretch since the “celebration” seems to be confined to Europe, but still …
I see a road trip in my future. Jacksonville is not quite 2 hours from us, so while it’s certainly a do-able trip … and if I promise DH that we’ll stop at Five Guys for dinner on our way home, I suspect that he can be persuaded to go with.
I’m still waiting for my new glasses to come in … I am getting tired of having to take off my glasses in order to use my iPhone. Hopefully they’ll be in on Monday.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend planned!
Kathy
Lots of family's excitement for you! Have a wonderful weekend...sounds like you have some great plans. I know what you mean about putting blocks together...it is so enjoyable to see a quilt come together!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very busy but fun week.
ReplyDeleteDon't yo just love summer? Glad they finally got a swim meet in. We are going to lots of ball games. It's so much fun to watch the Grands.
ReplyDeleteNice you have most of your fabric ready for your retreat and that you found that you were short now.
Have a GREAT weekend!

Glad you finally got to a meet, and YAY on your grandson doing soo well! We're supposed to get up into the 90's for the next few days so guess it's finally going to be hot. Knew it was coming, lol. But we rarely have humidity so guess I shouldn't complain much as I know that's what really makes it unbearable. I checked out one of those GO's...Seems like it would be just wonderful. Glad you have everything about ready for your retreat. Yes, the hop is the same thing as a run. And I have noticed some are calling it that. I am looking forward to seeing all the shops, but I REALLY want to win a prize, lol. Oh, and there is a square of warm and natural in the coasters. It's perfect to absorb moisture from a drink. I remember years ago when my mom first starting making them thinking what on earth would you want a coaster made of fabric for? They would never work well and would look kind of "dumb" sitting there. But! as it turns out I have never had one that worked better, and they look perfect sitting there on a little table. They will always remind me of her. They go together soo quickly too. Enjoy your week-end Kathy, hope you get lots done!
ReplyDeleteI most of the grass cut yesterday but then it turned way too humid for me and although I was on the porch for awhile reading I didn't last long and headed back to the house
ReplyDeleteYour weeks sound so much like mine these days - just trying to squeeze in a little sewing time between parents and grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteYour week sounds exciting a filled with fun. time to relax this weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute story about your young T!!! I love the kids movies - they are among my favorites :) Isn't it nice when you are not the one who has to be so busy? Just be there for support and as needed :) Looks like a great quilt show and a really fun trip for you and DH!
ReplyDeleteI can visualize T#3's win, and it made me smile! That must've been so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteJune has certainly been busy for you!! I hope you get to go to the quilt show in July!
ReplyDeleteHi there, Great job on the swim meet. Love hearing about your projects-I got my squares semi-bordered(more sashings to do). I am so enjoying my new sewing room. You mentioned glasses for your eye phone...well when I put mine against my face(when I'm talking), I'm constantly disconnecting calls-so now I'm just putting it on speaker phone,so I don't hang up on people. I've missed going to shows-wish we had more here.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

I mowed Friday and just sitting on the lawn tractor for about an hour cutting and I came in to get hydrated and my face was red. It is so humid, I wish we would get a shower to cool things down a bit. You were busy this week. I had hoped to sandwich a quilt this week but it just never happened. Hopefully I will have better luck next week.
ReplyDeleteIt is so humid here today and the workers on our house get to work around 5:45AM and leave around 1:45 PM. They simply cannot work in the heat of the day.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get a glimpse of the Chevron quilt. I love Chevron.
You are experiencing all good busyness. Hope you can make the quilt show. They can be so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteLots of family goings on there...sounds very busy and fulfilling and relaxing with some stitching when you get a chance will be perfect too. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to T#3!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very busy week, but a good one. Hope you make it to the Quilt Show!
You certainly have been busy. How wonderful that you get to spend so much time with the T's. So how did you like the Lego movie?
