It’s another Wednesday …but not just any Wednesday … it’s the first Wednesday of 2012, so this is the first Hodgepodge of 2012! And Joyce has come up with another set of interesting questions. If you want to see what everyone else has to say, just click on the button above.
1. What are three words you would use to describe your 2011?
Working, virus, travel. Only ONE of those words is “allowed” to be a word to describe 2012! Betcha can’t guess which one. ha!
2. Do you like shrimp? What's your favorite way to have it prepared?
Do I like shrimp? You’d better believe it! In fact, having fresh seafood is another reason I love the beach … when DH and I travel to the beach, breakfast is the only meal in which we don’t have seafood. And I cannot think of a way I do like why to have shrimp prepared … although on our last trip to Hilton Head, we discovered the. best. shrimp and grits EVER.
3. Is your house de-Christmased? If so when did you tackle that job? If not, when will the decorations come down?
No, not completely. Because we have a real tree, it came down the day after Christmas. I usually take down all the decorations when I take down the tree, but the weeks leading up to Christmas had been particularly busy ones, so I just took down the tree. I certainly intended to get everything else down by New Years Day … but they’re still up. Maybe today.
4. Do you like to watch scary movies?
No, absolutely not. I love a good suspense/mystery, but nothing that falls into the horror story category.
5. ice skating~sledding~skiing~snowboarding~of the four listed which wintertime activity do you most enjoy?
My favorite wintertime activity is sitting in my recliner, quilting, watching it snow outside, with a fire in the fireplace. I tried ice skating once … my ankles were too weak to allow me to do anything but shuffle along the outside of the rink, holding on to the boards for dear life. I tried skiing once, too, but that was about as ill-fated as the ice skating.
6. Did you have a childhood hideout? Describe it.
Not really.
7. What's a place or space that motivates you?
I’m drawing a blank on this one.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I get some T time today!
I've always heard of shrimp and grits, but I've never tried it.
ReplyDeleteHope you get lots of that travel in 2012 and none of the other 2.
Have a great day.
Good morning! I soo enjoy these posts, haha...I am with you on the love of shrimp that's for sure, though I have never had shrimp and grits...Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteMy ankles would probably not allow me to skate anymore either and I've never even attempted to ski. Sitting by the fireplace sounds wonderful - wish I had one.
ReplyDeleteWe love shrimp here too! One of the best things about living at the coast is the fresh shrimp- so good! You have to have my shrimp and grits-it's better than that stuff in Hilton Head. LOL
ReplyDeleteShrimp & Grits are great! There were two restaurants in town which served this dish, which we loved to get. Now both are closed. Luckily, I found a recipe for this awhile back and have fixed it once or twice. I really need to make more of this sometime soon - soooo good!
ReplyDeleteJust reading your answers makes me long for the beach...Seafood--YUM!
ReplyDeletehmmm...travel! haha :) And I've never heard of shrimp grits lol. Hope you have a great 2012! :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds nice and I hope you get to do everything you want to get done today.
ReplyDeleteIt always is a good day to quilt.
Watching snow fall is a favorite of mine. I think that is why I love snow globes! Enjoy your T-time!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree on the movies. But my #1 preference is a good, clean romantic comedy any day. Happy 2012!
ReplyDeleteHi, I loved the photo of the snow falling-somehow it always looks romantic until you have to go shovel it. Loved hearing your answers; we've only been to Hilton Head once and really loved it-I may have to return.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day with your T.
Hugs, Noreen
Looks like we're a bunch of shrimp lovers!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great day with the little one(s). I had my two little grand girls all day, so I'm just now getting to do a little reading of the Hodgepodge. No time for the computer with a 2 year old and an 8 month old! Lots of time for sweet snuggles though. Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on a lot of these - no scary movies for me either! sandie
ReplyDeleteDiscovering Shrimp and Grits is one of the things I have to thank my father in law for. Until I visited South Carolina I would have told you that those two should never be put together, oh how wrong I was.
ReplyDeleteShrimp and grits is a favorite of ours too...there's a restaurant in Greenville SC that we think makes the best version but pretty much anywhere in SC you can get a good dish.
ReplyDeleteHope this new year is happy and healthy for all of you!
