The Weekend Wrap-up
It wasn’t the most exciting weekend ever here at Chez Nana, but in my world, it doesn’t have to be exciting to be good.
We had dinner with DD’s in-laws Friday evening. It had started to rain just before we left, and cars in the parking lot of the restaurant were already ice covered. We had a nice dinner and got more insight on planning our cruise – but the best part was the phone call from DSIL that he arrived home safely from his training in Chicago (through the ton of snow that the Chicagoland area got and through the ice we got here). It was very definitely very icy by the time we got home.
The roads were fine Saturday … and that was a good thing, because I got to watch the 2 littles while Mama, Daddy and the 2 bigger Ts went out for a night of bowling and pizza. We watched Beauty and the Best … I’d forgotten how long it’d been since I’d seen that … it was almost like watching a new movie!
We woke up to a light fog Sunday morning … one that hung around all day ... thankfully it wasn’t heavy enough to keep us from getting out and going to church. We watched Courageous … what a good movie. A thunderstorm moved through the area at around bedtime … this weekend started with weird weather and ended with weird weather.
I didn’t get much quilting done this weekend , so that’s on my agenda for today. We have small group tonight (our first meeting with our new-to-us group) … I’m excited.

Never heard of the movie Courageous. What is that about?
ReplyDeleteKimberly, the movie is about the story of 4 police officers who see the worst in people and take the research that kids who don't have a father in their lives are the most at risk to get into trouble. These men realize that being a "good-enough" dad wasn't enough and resolve to take their responsibilities to be Godly dads seriously.
DeleteIt may not be an Oscar-winning movie, but it was touching and inspiring ... and I pray that it will convict men to be the kinds of fathers that God desires.
Sounds like a perfect week-end to me. I'd find driving in ice soo scary. Glad you sil got home from his travels safe...have a good day! HUGS
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend to me! Have a great week. Enjoy your quilting today.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new group - we had HEAVY fog here all day yesterday!
ReplyDeleteMy dad is staying on the Alabama Gulf shore, and he had a heavy fog for the first half of the day. And I noticed, while doing some cruise research online, that one of the cruise lines reported a delay in one of the cruise ships returning to Galveston, TX at the end of the cruise. So it sounds like the fog wasn't exclusive to southwestern Illinois. ;-)
DeleteOur weekend was quiet and snowy too. We need those every now and then!
ReplyDeleteWhat dreary weather. It has been cool and cloudy here. But hopefully the sun will return later today. I have heard that Courageous is a good movie. It's on my to see list. Keep warm.
ReplyDeleteI have "Courageous" on my list to see. I loved "Fireproof" and "Facing The Giants". We had a rainy w/e, not much winter weather so far; my daffodils are already up about 6", weird!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend. I loved Courageous when I saw it. I was watching the western Love series this weekend. It's about God as well. Looking forwarded to Spring. I think it about 58 days away (but whos counting)
ReplyDeleteHi, Your weekend sounds just perfect! WE had ice and wind in the mountains and a bit of rain but no snow. The ice made walking quite tricking. I'm going to finish my bible study and then start drawing a pattern on my quilt top. Hope you have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Noreen
I like those nice quiet weekends. It was rainy here most of the weekend so I was glad we didn't need to get out. Good movies, good books and a quilt. It sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend. I love Disney movies and haven't seen that one in years! Have a great week.
