Tuesday Trivia

The long weekend is over … we now return to our regular programming.  Of course, when you’re retired, the “regular programming” isn’t that much different than the weekend … although I still find myself looking forward to the weekends.  Winking smile

I’m down to the last log cabin block … of 70 ... not the 90 I was hoping for, or even the 81 that I expected.  I ran out of the white on white.  When I calculated the number of blocks I was expecting, I forgot to include the seam allowance.  Since there are 8 strips of white in each block, that seam allowance adds up.    I don't know smile   I hope to get the last block put together and start putting the blocks together … 7x10 blocks which will finish at 63x90, which is still a nice-sized quilt.  I need to get some backing fabric, now that I know what size it will finish at.

USA Network had a couple of NCIS marathons this weekend, and I got to see the one they showed on Saturday (while sewing my log cabin blocks) … they were so good that occasionally, I’d forget to sew while watching.

It was HOT this weekend … set a new record yesterday.  Perfect weather for T#2’s water play birthday party.  Even some of the grandparents joined the fun (yes, I was one of those grandparents … the water straight out of the hoses was pretty cold, but T#2 is worth it Red heart).  It’s going to be very warm today, but a cool front is moving in … it’ll be 30+ degrees cooler Friday than it was Monday.  Disappointed smile

The only thing on today’s agenda is a hair cut later this morning.  That will leave plenty of time to spend in the sewing room.  Winking smile

  1. Isn't it funny how we still look forward to weekends??? I guess I do it for Ed's sake, since he's not yet retired...

Your weekend sounds like a fun one. You were a brave grandma to join in that water fun :) Have a great week!

  2. I don't think that you are ever too old to play in the hose. We had cool weather (for Phoenix), but by the end of the week it is supposed to get up 105+. Have a good day.

  3. It sounds like our cold front is getting to you. That was how cool it was the whole weekend. Now we will start to warm up.
    With 96 by Friday.
Will you quilt still fit your bed if you don't do all of the blocks?
It is nice that you got some quilting done. Well have a nice time getting your hair cut.
    Have a great week!

  4. Definitely lots of HOT weather here in our neck of the woods, too! I think we're supposed to have 90 degree temps. tomorrow. I'm ready for fall to move back in! One of Brittany's close friends is doing an internship with NCIS. She said she's done everything except cut open the dead bodies. Yuck...I'll pass!

  7. I just got my hair cut last week. With this heat, and my thick heavy hair...I do it often. Especially during the summer months. Playing with water right from the hose...fun. Did I ever mention on my blog [I know I didn't but should] about a water fight Bud and I had when we were first married? He thought it would be hysterical to spray me good while we were washing the cars .... I took the hose, and chased him INDOORS with it!!! I have never lived that down. I got him good [but I had a watery mess to clean up in the house too]

I can't wait to see your finished quilt. And I love to watch NCIS...have the discs of all the seasons with Ziva. And, waiting patiently to get season #9.

  9. Our Grans played in the water hose last evening here at our house and we had such fun. Amazing what fun they can have with just a plain ole water house.

Your quilt sounds so lovely and I do hope you'll share photos when you finish it.

    Happy Wednesday!

  11. Seems like it is too early in the year to get so hot; May and June are our coolest months here so that's why maybe it doesn't seem like it should be hot summer weather yet. I have to agree with you; it is easy to get lost watching NCIS and not pay attention to anything else going on; watching it as I type :)

    have a great day tomorrow!
