TGIF! Although truth be told, I’ve been confused all week as to exactly what day of the week it is. But our recycle bin is out on the street for pick up, which tells me that it’s Friday.
DD & DSIL celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary yesterday, which meant Nana had some T-time. Took them to swim lessons (for T#3) and swim team practice (for T#1 and T#2) … stopped by Dairy Queen for dinner on our way home.
The library called that the Season 9 DVD is in … watched the first disc while quilting (about 2/3 of the way done). Speaking of NCIS, the Season 10 opener was a little disappointing … my initial reaction was that it was not the best episode but still pretty good … but after watching a few Season 9 episodes, I quickly realized that trying to compress 4+ months of story line into an hour just didn’t work … it would have been far more satisfying had they fleshed out the opener, particularly the Ducky story line and the Tony-Ziva story line. And maybe reworked the ending. Still, I’m looking forward to Tuesday night.
Since I’m getting closer to finishing up my wall quilt and closer to piecing my next quilt, I think today’s the day to go sewing machine shopping. I noticed, when piecing together my wall quilt, that my machine just doesn’t have the horsepower to stitch through seamed areas … I literally had to pull the fabric through … resulting in inaccurate seams and bunched-up stitches (making it virtually impossible to rip out those inaccurate seams). All I use my machine for is sewing … quilt piecing, a little garment sewing, some garment repairs. Do they even make plain old sewing machines any more?
DH is looking forward to going with me … not because he’s interested in helping me select a new sewing machine … no, he’s interested in the prospect of lunch at Firehouse Subs just a few miles up the road from the sewing machine shop.
We got a little more rain overnight … good for our newly-planted grass seed.
I mentioned here that I was looking for a beach print to hang above our fireplace … I found one that both DH & I love … and it was taken in Hilton Head, our favorite beach destination! It’s been shipped … I cannot wait to get it framed and hung.
Not only am I having trouble remembering what day of the week it is, I am really having trouble with what day of the month it is … I am convinced that it’s about the 15th, not the 28th. Where did September go???
September flew by! lets see is September and its the 28th? I just looked I was right. I never know the date. Thank god its on my phone.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend
It must be in the air - I said the same thing- I'm so confused on my days!!!
ReplyDeleteDont ask me about sewing machines - I've had mine sitting on a tray for 3 years & never turned it on... how sad is that?
that's a job as a g-ma to take the kiddos to Dairy queen for dinner - FUN!
I must be truly shallow. While you are the SECOND fragger to mention disappointment over the NCIS season opener, I watched it with no such misgivings.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about NCIS. I was disappointed too as I thought the episode was too fragmented.
ReplyDeleteHope you find the machine you are looking for. When I bought my new one a few years ago, the lady at Singer asked what I would use it for. When I told her simple sewing, repairs, crafts....she recommended the $299 one. And it has been perfect...does all I need and is easy to thread...which was a must have! Can't wait to see your beach print...so glad you found one easily!
ReplyDeleteThat beach print is beautiful! I've never been to Hilton Head, but one of these days....
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the sewing machine. One of these days (maybe when I retire) I would like to try my hand at quilting. I have a fairly decent sewing machine so maybe I could do it.
I agree on the NCIS. I would have liked to see them get into more of the Ducky story. Maybe they will as the season progresses. I still love that show though. Just a bit of a let down.
I hope you have a great weekend.
I, too, thought it was more like the middle of September. :) Good luck finding a sewing machine. A few years ago I bought a new Bernina and totally love it! It sews or seams on denim just fine!
ReplyDeletePretty beach print. Did you take the picture yourself?
I always mess up the days of the week.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, this month--no this whole year--has just flown by!
ReplyDeleteHow great that you found a beach print that you liked so quickly--and one that means something to you, too!
Have a great weekend.
I don't know where September went but I wish she'd take her darn hot weather with her when she's out for good. LOL Very nice picture! I felt that way about the season opener of Modern Family. But it'll get better, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteHi there, O.k. firstly you do know we loved H.H. so I love your print-it will look lovely! I don't watch NCIS but thought the previews looked good.
ReplyDeleteAs for machines-I think anything with a built in walking foot would be good; I thought about a Bernina but couldn't afford it and my Baby Lock has one and I love it. My girl has quilted on it and she said it was great. You are one special nana to take the kids to Dairy Queen. I took ours to McD's for lunch last week because Chick-fila was closed.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Noreen
I like you am not sure where September went either, before we know it, we will be getting ready for Christmas. I watched NCIS and felt that they tried to tie up too much, too quickly (they could have gotten a couple more shows out of the story plot) Beach print is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice weekend
Happy belated anniversary to your daughter and hubby!! I'm sure you enjoyed your time with the T's. This year sure has flown indeed! I'm with you; its Monday and then all of a sudden it is Thursday our trash day, how did that happen?
ReplyDeleteAnd I do agree with your thoughts about NCIS, but I do agree about looking forward to seeing it nest week.
enjoy your weekend!
betty
Everyone is talking about NCIS... the one show I have never watched. I think I will just read all about the show here, I cannot pick up another show. I think I have too many as it is.
ReplyDeleteI love your picture on your header! And NCIS...all my family and friends know they can call me anytime, except Tuesday nights from 7:00-8:00 p.m. I do not answer then. :) I agree with you though, would love for the story to have continued for more nights than one if they added to the Ducky incident and to Tony & Ziva in the elevator. Like you I can't often remember what day it is and like you I'm wondering what in the world I was thinking when I returned to work...it was a God thing I know but really, what was He thinking! :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteThe Superhero has a sewing machine and when we first met, he was making a curtain for his bedroom.......since I don't sew, that sealed the deal for me!
ReplyDeleteSince we started our marriage later in life, we are just a few months ahead of your kids.....our 17th anniversary is coming up in November.
the reason it is so hard to know the day of the week or month Is because they are going by so fast!
That is a beautiful picture you chose. Have you thought about putting it on canvas? Good luck shopping for a sewing machine. I have found that sometimes I am so excited for the new season of shows to begin that often they don't meet my expectations. However I always go on to love the season! Glad you have your season 9 to watch, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about NCIS. For the ending of Season 9 to be such a big deal, it was a little strange that they just kind of mentioned his heart attack in passing.
ReplyDeleteThe print is beautiful! Very cool that you found one of your favorite place!
I wonder to, where the entire year has gone. And, any time we travel, I stay mixed up about the days.
ReplyDeleteThe sewing machine I have is exactly 50 years old and it is a Singer and still going strong. It is just a plain ole machine and all I have ever needed. :o)
We're heading towards home sometime tomorrow and will get home sometime Monday. It's been a fun time.
