Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

It’s definitely winter here.  After some warmer weather earlier in the week, it’s turned *cold* again.  As if the *cold* weather isn’t enough, it’s been overcast and dreary.  But no snow … a little snow would be a nice reward for enduring cold, dreary weather, don’t you think?  We do have some wintery weather coming this evening … unfortunately, it’s of the icy variety, not snow.  Sad smile

Abby (our Labby) continues to do well.  She’s a sight … with shaved spots and stitches on her head and neck (and leg for the IV).  She could audition for the part of Frankenstein’s dog!

Thank God … DD has been released to resume her normal activity.  I know what a relief that must be to her.

We’re going to have dinner tonight with DD’s in-laws to get some advice/recommendations/info on cruising.  DH and I will celebrate a milestone anniversary this December, and we’d like to celebrate it with a cruise to the Caribbean next January (beautiful beaches, blue water and warm weather).  We’ve never cruised before (we always thought cruising would be way too expensive, but it looks like we can cruise for not much more than we can do a land vacation … and trust me, we travel on a budget) … my online research has presented way more options/choices than I know what to do with.  Winking smile

I’m making good progress on hand quilting my quilt.  I’ve got 30 of the 42 blocks quilted, and it won’t take too long to finish it.  I bought the fabrics for my next quilt … a two-color blue and white Irish chain.

  1. I have enjoyed the cruises that I have taken. I don't think that they are anymore expensive than other vacations, certainly not ones that involve airfare. Have a good day.

  2. I have always wondered about going on a cruise. I have thought the same thing too that they were too expensive. I am glad your dog is doing good, poor girl. We have clouds but no rain.
I was getting out quilt squares yesterday. I have a bag of all of these blue squares a lady gave me who stopped quilting. I have always wanted to do a Irish Chain.
I can't wait to see a picture of when your quilt is all quilted.
    Have a lovely weekend.

After what just happened, I am afraid to go on a cruise now. You have fun however and let me know how much fun it is, I may change my mind.

  5. Good morning! Glad your dog is doing better...Cruises can be lots of fun I heard, but they are not for me...I am soo afraid I'd be sick as I have motion sickness soo badly. Enjoy your week-end! HUGS

  6. I hope you love the cruise. We've only gone once - to Alaska - and can't wait to go on another. We called a travel agent early and gave him a range of times and we got a fantastic deal. Hope you can do the same! Oh, I checked all the internet deals before calling the travel agent and was shocked when he beat every deal I found!~Jeanne

  7. Hi there, So glad your pup is doing better. Hubby and I went on a cruise to the eastern Caribbean and enjoyed the cruise liner-Norwegian. I struggled with motion sickness so took ginger capsules which kept me from getting sick but it was depressing to not feel great the whole time. I would love to go on the Inland Passage to Alaska in the next few years-also have heard that it is really smooth. Have a wonderful weekend.
    Hugs, Noreen

  8. I am so glad Abby and DD are doing better.

I would be glad to give you my cruise ideas too, if you are still looking for suggestions. I'm sorry to see your follower above me here, NanaNor was seasick. I can't even go on a ferris wheel without getting sick but I have a couple of things I do for cruises to combat that. I fully recommend cruises.

  9. I think it's about TIME we got some "real" winter weather! I'm straight north of you in WI and we NEED the ground to be covered with snow for lots of reasons, not least of which is I LOVE it 'cause it's beautiful! Hehehehehe

  10. It seems like every blogger from the Midwest is suffering from lack of snow. I guess you need it to fill up your lakes, ponds, and reservoirs for Spring. Ice is dangerous, isn't it?

  12. Glad to hear daughter is doing better and Abby. We have an old ailing dog too. She has not fared so well with move. Cold weather is not to good for her. It is cold here to being in SC for the last 15 yrs has definitely spoiled me in the winter department.
Husb and I went on first cruise for my birthday this past year. It was really wonderful. We can not wait to do it again!

If it's going to be cold, there should be snow!
