Today is Friday … but not just any Friday. It’s Friday the 13th … but not just any Friday the 13th. It’s the last Friday the 13th of 2012.
DD and her family left for Colorado this morning for a long vacation. I admit that I'm spoiled with getting to see them several times during the week ... so I'll miss them. We did discuss my going along … I had to decline when it was decided that I’d sit in a rocker strapped to the top of their van. I really thought I’d be going when T#3 suggested that I be allowed to go so I could do the driving.
I wouldn’t mind going back to Colorado (we visited Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park 2 years ago). The majestic beauty of the Rockies was breathtaking … but when it comes time to plan our trips, the beach always wins out.
Speaking of trips, we’ll be in the Outer Banks in 2 months … but who’s counting? We’re talking about adding a couple of days to our trip to visit the lighthouses of southern Virginia.
The dermatitis on my arms is just about healed up. It would be nice to know what caused it … so I know what to avoid in the future.
I haven’t done any quilting since Sunday … I had plans of a quilting marathon tomorrow to go along with the NCIS marathon on USA Network, but we’re going to go visit my dad instead. The marathon continues through Sunday … I foresee an afternoon of quilting and NCIS.
Watched my first Star Wars movie yesterday - Return of the Jedi. I had the boys over yesterday afternoon, and I asked T#1 what he’d like to do while T#3 took his nap. He chose renting a Star Wars movie. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would … I’m not into science fiction, but it wasn’t as much sci-fi as action.
The icemaker in our refrigerator has continued to act up, sometimes a couple of times in a week. DH talked to the owner at the shop where we bought the refrigerator … he said that it could be as simple as an alignment problem. Or it could be that we need a new icemaker. The prices he quoted for either scenario were less than I thought that it would be, so we’re getting it serviced. It’s a pain (and not very energy efficient) to have to bring out the hairdryer and stand there with the freezer door open while melting that errant ice cube.
Happy weekend, all!
Good morning! Melody played on a Travel Ball softball team for several years and twice we traveled to Colorado Springs to National tournaments (soo fun btw) and it was the most beautiful place I'd ever been. Sooo pretty. I loved it there. We went to Texas once in August for a national tournament and it was a nightmare of heat, humidity and bugs...oh my. Too bad you weren't up for a roof ride, haha. My boys growing up were all about Star Wars...I have seen the movies MANY times. I HATE Sci-fi movies, but I LOVED these. Glad your arm is healing up. Have a good week-end! HUGS
ReplyDeleteI feel your heartache over your family moving away. Mine are far away too. All the different communications of today really help. I also send Care Packages to them in Flat Rate boxes from the post office.
ReplyDeleteWe've vacationed in the Rockies too and they are a magnificent sight for sure.
I am not a SiFi fan, but I did like Star Wars. Especially the first one.
Thinking of you and your Colorado kids.
Glad your arm is better!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to go to Colorado. My brother & family goes to Estes park every year. The pictures blow my mind!
Hubby and I went to Estes Park about 23 years ago. It was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNow I really think you should tack on the extra days and see the lighthouses...why you ask? Because I love lighthouses and would totally enjoying seeing your pictures of them here. :)
Have a great weekend and hope you do get some quilting and NCIS time. I hope to watch some too and maybe do some crocheting.
I know your going to miss them while they are gone. LOL about you being strapped in the rocking chair! Seeing the lighthouses sounds wonderful. Hope your repair goes well. We sure do use our ice maker all the time!!! Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I had dermatitis so bad once for two years - it was head to toe - turned out to be our dog. Sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow I am glad you are better! Sorry you will miss your daughter.

Wow, I don't know whether I'd trade a trip to the Rockies for the Outer Banks or not-never been to the latter. Glad you'll have a long weekend for quilting. I didn't read(must have missed it)that you had dermatitis. Got to check yesterday's post-we were without power all night(9 hrs)and I hadn't been online earlier. So glad our power came back on. Have a great weekend.

Wow, I'm surprised you made it to this age and hadn't seen a Star Wars movie yet :)
ReplyDeletefun with your daughter/family going on vacation! It is good to go and good to go home and you know they need that time as a family and Colorado is a great place to vacation in! I'm sure the time will go by relatively fast for all!
betty
I have never seen a STar Wars movie either. Not sure how I escaped it when our son was growing up, but I did.
ReplyDeleteGlad about your arm. Something we have done for years is use Free All and Bounce Free. They have no additives, no fragrances and have helped with our skin issues tremendously. My dermatologist said that dryer sheets are the #1 culprit of skin allergies. I sure didn't know that.
Enjoy quilting and the the NCIS marathon. Blessings!
