1. How often do you check the weather? How do you check the weather?
It depends … in extreme weather conditions (like the heat wave we experienced last week), I may check periodically throughout the day. Otherwise, I check first thing in the morning … to see what the forecast is. I generally check online at www.weather.com.
2. "Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance. If the dispositions of the parties are ever so well known to each other or ever so similar beforehand, it does not advance their felicity in the least. They always continue to grow sufficiently unlike afterwards to have their share of vexation; and it is better to know as little as possible of the defects of the person with whom you are to pass your life."
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
Agree or Disagree. Why?
I think there are a couple of issues in this quote. First, there’s the idea that happiness is a matter of chance. I disagree … I believe that happiness is a matter of choice, not chance … especially in marriage.
Secondly, Ms Austen implies that a good marriage is possible when we know little to nothing about our spouse prior to marriage. I disagree with that as well … I believe that I believe that a good marriage is built on a foundation of shared values, goals, interests, as well as mutual respect, trust and honesty. How can you develop trust and respect without knowing your spouse? How can you know that you share the same values, goals and interests without knowing your spouse?
3. Do you like to dance? Have you ever taken dance lessons?
I like to dance, but I just don’t seem to have the rhythm necessary to dance ... at least to dance well.
4. Fresh from the oven peach pie or home made peach ice cream? Pick one.
Or how about home made peach ice cream on top of a slice of peach pie fresh from the oven?
5. Should people accept unfairness and learn to make the best of it?
When I hear the word “unfair” (as opposed to “injustice” or “evil”), it conjures up a sense of entitlement, a focus on self. We’re not promised “fairness” … instead we’re promised that life will be unfair … that He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous (Matthew 5:45). So yes, we should accept unfairness, learn from it, and grow from it … if we don’t, we’re going to end up bitter and resentful.
6. The top five all time summer movie blockbusters (released between May and August and grossing at least 100 million dollars) are-Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars (the original), Ghostbusters, and ET. Which one's your favorite?
I’ve only seen 2 of those 5 (Ghostbusters and ET). My favorite of those two is ET.
7. If given the chance, would you like to visit the moon?
No. I hate flying.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I’m getting in plenty of T-time this week. I got to take them to swim lessons yesterday morning and then in the afternoon got to meet up with them at the water park. Tonight T#2 has her final softball game of the summer. And tomorrow, I’ll have the boys here for the day.
Hopefully my T-time this week will tide me over for the next week as they’ll be leaving for vacation bright and early Friday morning.
We had almost the same answers on #5. Great minds think alike!! Sounds like you got a lot of T time. I love grandkid time! What a blessing they are.
ReplyDeleteDang....I completely forgot about Hodgepodge this week. Silly me.
ReplyDeleteI must say I like your answer to #4...but only FRESH from the tree peaches for me only. It's be a toss up between ET and Raiders...I liked 'em both.
Have a glorious Wednesday dear one.
Good morning! Totally agree with you on #'s 2, 4, 5, and 7! haha.....And let's face it, nothing is quite as good as grand kid time. Hope you have a good day!
ReplyDeleteI lack rhythm too...that doesn't stop me from singing and dancing though : )
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the little ones this week. I got to spend yesterday afternoon at the pool with our three grands. Nothing better!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
I love to dance. Took ballet as a kid - wasn't very good but you might find me dancing in my kitchen while making dinner.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the Ts are keeping you hopping! You may need a rest next week! :)
ReplyDeleteGood answer on #5! Enjoy those Ts!
ReplyDeleteI think you did quite well on your response to number 2! That was a hard one! I have to know where you get your adorable little smileys and hearts? I keep wanting to use something like that but don't know how. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers, as always. Sounds like you like peaches! LOL Enjoy your T time!
ReplyDeleteGood answers to some difficult questions!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with those T's :)
Grandkids are so fun to have around. Yep, I could use some ice cream on that peach pie! By the way, I love to dance but have two left feet!
ReplyDeleteHi, This is always so fun! I love hearing your answers. Have a great day my friend.

Great answers Nana, but I lovingly disagree with you on #2. I met my husband the day my divorce became final and fell head over heels in love with his smile and easy nature the minute he smiled. We knew each other just over a month when we married and are coming up now on 31 years and I still am madly in love with him. All I knew was he was in the Navy, had a large family and loved kids. I have seen many marriages go south when people have had long engagements or known each other for years. Ours worked. Enjoy those T's and the rest of the summer. ReplyDeleteGood answers. Hope you enjoy your T-time.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing on #5 about the sense of entitlement. Too much of that going around these days!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that T-time!!!
ReplyDeleteNow you're talking - peach ice cream on TOP of the pie. Everyone's a winner! :)
I used to love to dance and would do it as much as possible. I did lots of dancing in the kitchen with my girls as they were growing up. I had them doing the "Mashed Potatoes, Twisting" and the "Pony"! I took tap and ballet as a child but that's all.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky like Guiltinggranny. I was divorced for 5 years though when I asked my husband out for Birthday drinks. He proposed 2 weeks later and we were married 5 months after that.... 30 years ago. My first marriage had a 5 year courtship. That's too long. I fully believe there is an expiration date on "going together". Sometimes couples pass it and should move on.
Sounds like your having a great time with the T's. How wonderful to be so blessed with them.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers! I really liked how you answered the Jane Austen question. That was great, I also really liked your answer bout marriage. I do not have any rhythm, it is so sad. I do like to dance too. :)
ReplyDeleteReally great!
