The Weekend Wrap-up

Once again another weekend has come and gone.  How time flies when we’re having fun, right?  Winking smile

Friday I spent a good chunk of my day at DD’s.  Mama took the 3 biggest Ts on a homeschooling field trip, where they checked out insects, including Lucy the Hissing Cockroach, who had to make her way through a maze made by the Ts.Lucy the Hissing CockroachAll I can say is I’m glad I was home with T#4.

Speaking of, we were playing with a toddler “computer” that “spoke”.  Some of the questions were “who do you like to play with” and “where do you like to go visit”.  My heart was full when I heard her respond with “Nana” and “to Nana’s house”.  Red heart Red heart Red heart

I also got my iPad all set up, with all my apps installed.  I wonder how long some of the app providers are going to take to tweak their apps to be iPad-friendly?  Confused smile  Yes, Words with Friends, I’m talking about you!

Saturday was a quilting day.  I had planned to get out and trim back my rose bushes and my butterfly bush, but it rained all morning.  Of course, it did clear off by mid afternoon … I could have gone out and gotten a good bit of trimming done, but by then I was comfortably ensconced in my recliner, stitching on my quilt.  And of course, I couldn’t miss the 3:00 Blues game either.

We set all our clocks ahead an hour and heard on the news all about all the downsides to changing our clocks.  I, for one, am glad to go on Daylight Savings Time.  Of course I know that we’re not saving any daylight … no one seriously thinks that’s the case, do they?  That’s definitely a misnomer … as there are only a given number of daylight hours in any day, regardless of whether they begin at 7:17 AM or 6:17 AM.  <sigh>  But I do enjoy having daylight an hour longer in the evening, especially when the weather gets warm enough to get outside and take advantage of those later sunsets.  You know, I’ll bet all those who insist that it takes them weeks to adjust to the time change would have no problems adjusting if they were on vacation and traveled to a time zone one hour ahead.  Winking smile

Sunday was a busier day.  After church, we went to the Y … I hadn’t been since last Wednesday and was definitely overdue.  I took my iPad and read (using my Kindle app) while walking on the treadmill … that 50 minutes went by so quickly!  I’ll definitely be taking it with me from now on!  It was another rainy day, so I had a good excuse reason to spend the rest of the day indoors, quilting.  Winking smile  And of course, there was that hockey game at 7:00.

  1. I love walking on the treadmill while reading on my iPad. Sounds like you had a fun weekend but then, anytime with grand kids is good times.

  3. I play WWF on my ipad without too much trouble. Do you log on thru facebook or by another account? I have found since I started logging on with facebook it's a little more wobbly. I blame facebook : )

    Sounds like a fun weekend!

  4. Sounds like a good week-end! I personally LOVE the time change (once I get used to getting up an hour earlier). Nothing like the LONGER evenings. I will finally start the actual sewing on my quilt today, haha. Goodness, I didn't think I'd ever get there. Enjoy your day!

  5. I'm not sure I'm coordinated enough to walk and read at the same time :)

I like having extra light in the evenings, but hate making the adjustments of resetting my body clock!

    A hissing cockroach...now there's a terrible thought!

I for one am thrilled to have more light in the evening as well!

  7. Sounds like a good weekend. I hadn't read your Saturday post and didn't know you had bought an iPad. So glad you got it fixed up and that you love it!

I've never really tried too much to read my Kindle on the treadmill. I'm afraid if I don't watch what I'm doing, I'd fall. I may have to give it a try that soon.

  8. It sounds like a nice day. It is going to be warmer than normal all this week. I just hope we don't go right into summer by April.
I think that is so sweet your grand daughter likes Nana's house. That is so sweet.
I hope it is a nice week for you.

  9. Sounds like a perfect weekend to me. I know you'll love your IPad-I do the mini but hubby doesn't use it very much. I think the size is a disadvantage for him; of course we watched a movie on it on the plane. I think when his laptop dies, we'll get him a IPad. Glad you got some stitching done. I have always had a hard time adjust to the time change in spring, though I love the longer evenings. I think we should just leave the clocks alone-like AZ and Hawaii. I've been doing some organizing today as well as picking up old crabapples in the yard-don't want Hunter eating them. Have a good evening.
    Hugs, Noreen

  12. that's great exercise with the iPad. I know when I watch TV at the gym the time goes by faster. So cute with your little T saying she loved going to Nana's house! I know you are a great Nana to all your T's :)

  13. I LOVE the longer daylight evenings! The only negative is Brad doesn't come in the house until it is dark which makes for a messy kitchen at 9:00! Do you use the free kindle app for your IPAD? I wanted to download it the other day, but it got bad reviews, so I didn't know if I should pay for one or not. What do you think? Thanks for your help! BTW-love your new look!

  14. Such a sweet girl answering Nana!!!!!

I just think daylight savings time is at the wrong time of year! We would be better served with it being in the winter when we could use that extra hour of light......it stays lighter longer in the summer anyway. Sigh.....no one ever asks me! We are once again walking in the dark in the mornings though!
