Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

It’s Friday … another week is coming to a close, way too quickly.  But that means that the weekend is just about here, so I can’t complain.  Winking smile

Yesterday I finally got to work on a project that I’ve put off far too long.  My dad found an old children’s lawn chair that a neighbor was throwing away.  While the chair was scratched and faded, it was otherwise in excellent condition … nothing that a little paint couldn’t fix.  And it was just the right size for T#4.

photoHere it is before … it’s so faded that it almost looked pink.  Winking smile

photo-001Here it is after I painted the upper surfaces … I still need to paint the under sides, which I’ll do this afternoon.

We’ve had a praying mantis living at our house for the last week or so.  Fall 2012 003Yes, he’s upside down on the window screen.

It’s been wonderful having our grandpuppy here this last week.  I always thought that I was a big dog kind of gal, but I’ve discovered that there are advantages to a smaller dog … nice to be able to have a dog curl up in my lap and to just pick her up if she doesn’t want to do whatever it is that I’m asking her to do.  Having Holly here has also reinforced my decision to not get a puppy if we get another dog.  Winking smile

DH made a nice pot of chili for dinner last night … looking forward to leftovers today.

Speaking of looking forward, I’m looking forward to tonight’s game … it’s down to the 5th and deciding game of the series … the team that wins goes on to the NLCS, the team that loses is done for the season.  I’m hoping that my Cardinals will be the team that will be playing on.

I’m really looking forward to the weekend … it should be a quiet, relaxing one.

  6. Stopping in from Friday Fragments and your title intrigued me as I am a new empty nester. But you clinched it when you wrote "my" Cardinals! I am forever your friend and follower now!

Great job on the children's lawn chair. How many chairs could be recycled with a simple paint job? Kudos to you! I know it will find a loving home!

  9. Hi there, Loved hearing about your time with the puppy-I agree that puppies are so much work but I do enjoy having a smaller dog that doesn't crowd the bed too much-except for being picky eaters.I also like to be able to pick Hunter up if need be and if I can catch him.
    Have a warm, creative weekend.
    Hugs, Noreen

  10. The chair came out perfect. Glad your enjoying the puppy and yes small dogs can be so much easier than large ones! I do love training a new puppy, it's a lot of work but I am very successful. Best of luck for your team!!!

  12. The pink chair looks brand new!! I agree about the puppy. If we ever get another dog I want it to be at least a year old and a small one. I love my big dog, but small ones are so much easier.

    Have a great weekend.

  13. Wow! The chair came out beautifully!

When we kept our sons puppy, I said no more puppies! She's big too and our little poodles are big enough for me! In fact the reason I got them was because we had a 120 lb. lab and when he got to the place he couldn't get in the car and then had to be helped with everything, I said never again. The other day the superhero mentioned that he might like to get another lab puppy and all I could do was give him the evil eye!

I just finished watching NCIS and I thought of you. :o) I rarely watch it but it peeked my interest as soon as it started tonight.

    Happy weekend!

  17. You did a great job on the chair! Glad you are enjoying watching your grand dog and it is helping you decide if/when you might want another dog. Honestly, I love Koda dearly but I'm just not sure when the inevitable happens if I want to take on another pet or not. I do hope your team won tonight!
