Wednesday Hodgepodge

Another Hump Day arrives … and that means it’s time for the Hodgepodge!

1.  So, do you like beer?
No, too bitter for my taste.  I'm not much of a fan of alcoholic drinks.  I can’t seem to acquire a taste for wine … the only drinks I like are fruity/sugary ones where you can’t even taste the alcohol, so it seems rather pointless.  So I order dessert instead.  Winking smile

2.  What's your least favorite repetitive task?
Cleaning the bathrooms.

3.  When was the last time you rode a bus?  Where was it headed?
The last time I rode a bus was probably 11-12 years ago.  The State University Civil Service system here in Illinois would host a conference in Champaign every fall, and I attended 11-12 years ago.  A bus was chartered to transport the attendees from my campus to Champaign and back.

4.  What song from your childhood or from your own children's childhood could make a parent's nerves stand on end?
My sister and I used to sing the Siamese cat song from Lady and the Tramp … it would drive our mom batty ... not the song as much as our singing it over and over and over.  Winking smile

5.  The US Presidential election cycle is drawing to a close (can I get an AMEN??), and the third and final debate was held last night...what was the last thing you 'debated about'?
AMEN!!!!   I’m drawing a blank as to what I last debated.

6.  Can a person make too much money?  How much is too much?
I wrote, deleted, rewrote, edited, deleted and rewrote my response several times … and I’m still  not sure that I can adequately express my thoughts.  I’ll just say that I think our attitude about money is far more important than how much money we make.

7.  Pop-soda-coke-something else...what's it called where you live?
Pop is another name for dad.  Coke is a brand name soft drink.  In my neck of the woods, soda is the generic term for carbonated soft drinks.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
I’m making progress on the I-Spy quilt … I have half the blocks completed and am piecing together the remaining half.  I hope to start sewing the blocks together by the weekend.

It’s been unseasonably warm here … in the upper 70’s the last 3 days … and into the 80’s today and tomorrow.  In fact, when I went to bed last night, it was still 70 degrees outside!  A front is supposed to come through on Friday … bringing in highs in the lower 50’s and lows in the lower 30’s.

  1. It's supposed to start getting colder this weekend here too. I don't mind the cold as long as it's not rainy too. Ahhh the Siamese song...good one.

  5. Funny...I used to call my dad Pop. Just seems so endearing. We have wonderful warm weather here all week long, but next week, look out! Highs in the lower 60's! Time to crack out my electric blanket! Happy Wednesday, Kathy!

  7. Bathroom seems to be the #1 answer today. It doesn't bother me. I love that song :) but I guess a million times would drive me crazy.
Yes we always called it soda. By the end of the week we are supposed to be back up into the high 80's but boy was it cold out last night! Have a great day.

  8. I am with you on the beer question. I am not a drinker either.
My daughter used to sing that "We are Siamese if you please" phrase all the time when she was little. It was the only part she could remember.
My hat is off to you for the quilt making. I have tried it once. It is a lot of work.

  9. Your song choice is cute. I forgot about that one.
I didn't like wine until I found a fruity one. Even then I only have a glass once in awhile.

  11. I love seeing how you answer all these random questions! Upper 70's,wow-it is 50 here today but lots of moisture in the air from a storm from Ca...with rain and snow predicted. Have a great afternoon sewing. I finished sewing the rows together yesterday and just have to do the binding but hubby & I are going to the movies today.
    Have a nice afternoon.
    Hugs, Noreen

  12. Oh my! How could I forget the Siamese cat song?! I'm pretty sure I used to sing that in a really silly voice all the time too.

  14. I totally agree with you (all the way through it)on number 1. I remember that song well...my kids loved it for some reason! I agree with you on the money thought too. ; ) We have had really nice weather the last couple of days, but it is going to heat up into the UPPER 80'S AGAIN this week-end...beginning to think it is never going to be over. Hope you enjoyed your day!

  16. Cleaning the bathrooms seems to be the number one answer-I am too busy doing paperwork to clean my house! Weather unseasonably warm here-80's today but turning colder this weekend with maybe snow flurries.

  17. Oh, it's been unseasonably warm here too but the weekend is bringing in a "cold wave." Yipee!

  20. I love those two cats!!!! They're purrreciously devilish. LOL And the song is great. But, I've never sang it over and over....but I do like it.

I know this weather is so odd this year. I'm reading about the new "perfect storm" that is working its way along the Eastern seaboard....kinda scary.

  21. I usually get the fruity drinks without the alcohol; If I can't taste the alcohol, why waste the calories and brain cells? At my niece's gradation there were daiquiris and pina coladas, virgin for the under 21s in cooler glasses than the "adult beverages" so I got the bonus of a cooler glass too!

I think you got the edit down to perfect on #6!

  22. My mama told us beer tastes like horse pee so I never wanted the stuff! Every time I see it, that is the image that comes to my mind. I guess I never stopped to question how she would know that! :).

Most hated repetitive chore? Laundry! The never ending basket full of laundry.

I will be very glad when the elections are over. I am so tired of hearing the voices!

  23. That's smart thinking about forgoing the drink for the dessert!
Looks like we both detest cleaning the bathroom!
